説教要約　The summary of the sermon "Be Rich in Christ!" / Ephesians 1

エペソ人への手紙のメインテーマは、「クリスチャンよ、豊かであれ！」である。パウロは、私達クリスチャンが、キリストにあってどれほど豊かな祝福を受けているかについて語っている。時に私達は、自分達の小ささや無力さを嘆く事があるかもしれない。特に日本におけるクリスチャンの割合は、総人口の1％未満と言われており、世の中に対する影響力が小さい事は否めない。しかしながら、私達がキリストにあって勝利の人生を生きるためには、自分が霊的に豊かである事を理解し、ネガティブなセルフイメージから解放される必要があるのだ。私達に与えられた霊的祝福をリストする。1:私達は地の基が置かれる前からキリストにあって選ばれていた。私達は自らの意思でキリストを信じたが、それ以前に神が私達を選んでいた。2:御前に聖く、傷の無いものとされた。私達はキリストの血によって、傷の無い者としてカウントされ、神に属する者となった。3:神の子とされた。私達は養子縁組されて、神の子供となった。4:罪が赦された。ただ神の恵みによって、私達の全ての罪は赦されている。5:神のみこころの奥義を知った。私達は聖書を通して神の御旨と計画を知る事が出来る。6:天の御国を受け継ぐ者となった。私達は霊的遺産相続人である。7:キリストにある希望を持った。私達はキリストにあって、生きる希望、そして天国に入れるという希望を持った。8:約束の聖霊をもって証印を押された。聖霊の証印は、私達が天の御国を相続する事の確かな保証である。このようにして、私達には確かな霊的祝福が与えられている。信仰とは意識の事である。私達はこれらの霊的祝福を意識し、勝利者としての人生を生きよう。

The main theme of Paul’s letter to the Ephesians is “Christians, be rich in Christ!” Paul teaches how we Christians are richly blessed. We may sometimes lament our smallness and powerlessness. The percentage of Christians in Japan is less than 1% of the total population, and it is undeniable that churches have little influence on society. However, in order for us to live a victorious life, we need to understand that we are spiritually rich and free ourselves from our negative self-image. Following is a list of spiritual blessings given to us. 1: We were chosen by God to be saved before the creation of the world. We believed in Christ of our own volition, but before that, God had chosen us. 2: God has made us holy and blameless. We are counted blameless by the blood of Christ and belong to God. 3: We have become children of God. We were adopted by God and became heirs to his inheritance. 4: Our sins are forgiven. 5: We knew the mystery of God’s will. We can understand God's will and plan through the Bible. 6: We have become heirs of the kingdom of heaven. Eventually we will enter heaven and receive our inheritance from God. 7: We have hope. We have known true hope in Christ. 8: We were marked with the seal of the Holy Spirit. The seal of the Spirit is a guarantee that we will enter heaven. We have been given these spiritual blessings. Let us be aware of this and live a victorious life.

キリストは私達に自由を得させるために、律法の呪いから私達を解放して下さった。パウロは、その自由を自らの肉の欲を満たすために用いるのではなく、愛を実践するために用いるよう語った。救われた私達は、賜物として聖霊を受けた。聖霊は私達に何が善であり、神に喜ばれる事なのかを教える。しかしながら、私達の肉の内には罪の性質があり、その性質の故に私達は善が行えないというジレンマがある。パウロは、私達が罪と死の法則から解放されて、真の自由に生きるために「御霊によって歩みなさい」と命じた。このフレーズは、原語では「御霊により頼む習慣をつけなさい」と解釈出来る言葉が使われている。つまり、「歩む」とは「習慣的行動」を意味し、私達は意識的に、日々御霊と共に歩む選択をする必要があるのだ。御霊との継続的なコミュニケーションの中に生きる時、私達は御霊の実を結ぶようになる。御霊の実とは、私達の人格に結ばれる実であり、それは霊の賜物以上に尊いものだ。私達が聖霊によってキリストに似た者へと作り変えられる事により、私達は健全な自信を得、また自己愛を深める事が出来る。それこそが、キリストにある真の自由に生きる事なのだ。私達は日々、御霊と共に歩み、キリストの栄光を表す生き方をしよう。
Christ has set us free from the curse of the law in order that we might have freedom. Paul teaches us to use that freedom to practice love, not to use it to satisfy the desires of our sinful nature. We who are saved have received the Holy Spirit as a gift. The Holy Spirit tells us what is good and pleasing to God. However, the dilemma is that we have a sinful nature, and because of that nature, we are unable to be perfect. Paul commanded us to “walk by the Spirit” to live in true freedom, free from the law of sin and death. The phrase “walk by the Spirit” can be interpreted as “keep walking by the Spirit” or “develop the habit of relying on the Spirit.” In other words, “walk” means “habitual behavior,” and we need to make a conscious choice to walk with the Spirit daily. When we live in continuous communication with the Spirit, we begin to bear the fruit of the Spirit. The fruit of the Spirit is the fruit that is borne in our character, which is more precious than Spiritual gifts. As we are transformed by the Holy Spirit into Christlikeness, we gain a healthy self-confidence and self-love. This is what it means to live in true freedom in Christ. Let us walk daily with the Spirit and live lives that show the glory of Christ.

ガラテヤのクリスチャン達に誤りを教えた律法主義的教師達は、モーセ五書を重んじていた。そこで、パウロは創世記の物語を用いて、彼らの教えが誤りである事を説いた。パウロは、アブラハムの妻サラと彼女から生まれた息子イサク、そして奴隷女ハガルと彼女から生まれたイシュマエルの対比を用い、律法主義者達の誤りを暴いたのだ。二人ともアブラハムの息子であったが、パウロは、サラから誕生したイサクを約束の子、ハガルから生まれたイシュマエルを奴隷の子と表現した。これはキリストと教会、そして律法との関係性を表していた。キリストは花婿であり、教会はその花嫁である。御霊によって新生したクリスチャン達は約束の子であり、神の祝福を相続する。それに対し、律法の元にある者たちは奴隷の子であり、彼らに祝福の相続権は無い。奴隷の特徴は恐れにとらわれている事である。もしも私達が恐れにとらわれて生きているならば、それは奴隷の霊に束縛されているのである。私達は恐れにとらわれて生きる者ではなく、御霊による自由と喜びの中に生きる者達だ。確かに私達の生活には困難がある。しかしながら、私達は恐れる事なく、主に信頼して生きるのだ。ヨブに災いが降り掛かった時、「私が恐れていた事が私の身に起こった」と語った。彼はその行いにおいては正しかったが、彼の潜在意識には恐れがあった。それに対し、ダビデは「たとえ死の影の谷を歩いても私は災いを恐れない」と語った。これこそが信仰者の在り方である。私達は約束の子である。信仰によって生きよう。
Today’s sermon summary
The legalistic teachers who taught the Galatian Christians false teachings attached great importance to the Pentateuch of Moses. So, Paul used one of the stories in Genesis to point out their false belief. Paul used the contrast between Abraham's wife Sarah and her son Isaac, and the slave woman Hagar and her son Ishmael to expose the errors of the legalists. Both were children of Abraham, and Paul described Isaac as the son of promise and Ishmael as the son of the slave. This represented the relationship between Christ, Churches, and the Law. Christ is the bridegroom and churches are his brides. Christians who are born again by the Spirit are children of promise and inherit God's blessings. In contrast, those under the law are children of slavery, and they have no inheritance of spiritual blessings. A characteristic of slaves is that they are obsessed with fear. If we live in fear, we are bound to the spirit of slavery. We are not those who live in fear, but those who live in freedom and joy in the Holy Spirit. There are difficulties in our lives. However, we are to live without fear and trust in the Lord. In the book of Job, when calamities came upon Job, he said, "What I feared has come upon me.” He was right in his deeds, but in his subconscious, there was fear. In contrast, when faced with difficulties, David said in the Psalms, “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil.” This is the way a believer should feel. The difference between Job and David is that Job looked to his own deeds and David looked to God. We are children of promise. Let us look to God and live by faith!
