The Kamloops Islamic Association strongly condemns the hateful acts of vandalism, threats, and Islamophobic targeting at the Fleetwood Islamic Centre in Surrey, BC.

We stand in solidarity with the NCCM, Fleetwood Islamic Academy Society, its congregation, and the broader Muslim community during this difficult time. Places of worship must remain safe spaces for prayer, reflection, and community, free from intimidation, hatred, and discrimination.

As Canadians, we are united by values of respect, inclusion, and mutual understanding. We call upon community leaders, organizations, elected officials and residents across British Columbia to stand together against all forms of hate and to promote peaceful coexistence.

Indeed, We created humans in the best of forms.

This verse is about you.
But if you have the best of forms, why do you so often feel insecure or unworthy?

It’s not just in your head. You have a whole industry working against you.

The worse you feel, the more products and procedures you buy.

The worse you feel, the more you’re encouraged to idolize “beautiful” celebrities.

The worse you feel, the more views looksmaxxing influencers get.

The worse you feel, the more Shaytan wins.

The Qur’an describes Shaytan’s strategy as leading people to “change the creation of Allah”.

If he can work through insidious cultural messaging to make you feel bad about yourself, he will.

Instead of letting him win, here’s what to do.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families and all those affected by this heartbreaking incident.

We are deeply disturbed by the Islamophobic attack on Sheikh Ebrahim Ali, Imam of the BCMA Mosque in Victoria, British Columbia.

This act of violence is unacceptable and reflects the growing threat of anti-Muslim hate in our communities.

Sheikh Ebrahim Ali is also a visiting Imam at the Kamloops Islamic Association, and our community is profoundly concerned for his safety and well-being. No one should face violence for their faith or identity.

We urge law enforcement agencies to fully investigate this hate-motivated incident and ensure accountability.

We also call on elected officials at all levels of government to go beyond words and take concrete action to address rising Islamophobia and protect vulnerable communities.

We stand in solidarity with Sheikh Ebrahim, The BC Muslim Association and NCCM.

Alhumdolillah, BC Government has introduced an Anti Islamophobia Education Strategy.

This was one of the Advocacy Day asks when Kamloops Islamic Association along with NCCM and several other Muslim organizations met with elected officials at the BC Legislature just a month ago.

May Allah (SWT) reward everyone for their tireless and selfless sacrifice and efforts in getting this policy introduced - Ameen.

It is more than just an educational strategy as it also includes delivery of health services for Muslim population.

Please take note of the following:

Perform Ablution (Wudu) at home.

Bring your own prayer mat.

Must follow the directions of volunteers and security officers at all times.

Support the food stalls.

Arrive 15 minutes earlier than salah time.

Please *Do Not* bring any food to the Eid event unless you have received prior authorization to do so.

Oh Allah accept our prayers, forgive our shortcomings, accept the Hujjaj, grant Nusrah (success) to the oppressed Umah, bestow your selective mercy on the Umah with peace & prosperity, keep us steadfast and enable us to benefit from the virtue of these blessed days - Ameen

Reminder to fast the day of Arafah 🤲🏼

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about fasting on the day of Arafah (the 9th of Dhul Hijjah). He replied, “Fasting on the day of Arafah is an expiation for the preceding year and the following year.”
