السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

Alhumdolillah, BC Government has introduced an Anti Islamophobia Education Strategy.

This was one of the Advocacy Day asks when Kamloops Islamic Association along with NCCM and several other Muslim organizations met with elected officials at the BC Legislature just a month ago.

May Allah (SWT) reward everyone for their tireless and selfless sacrifice and efforts in getting this policy introduced - Ameen.

It is more than just an educational strategy as it also includes delivery of health services for Muslim population.

Reminder to fast the day of Arafah 🤲🏼

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about fasting on the day of Arafah (the 9th of Dhul Hijjah). He replied, “Fasting on the day of Arafah is an expiation for the preceding year and the following year.”

We are pleased to announce the start of Dhul Hijjah on Monday, May 18, 2026.

Dhul Hijjah is the twelfth and last month of the Islamic lunar calendar. Its first ten days hold exceptional significance, as Allah (SWT) highlights their virtue in the Quran: “By the dawn, and by the ten nights” (Al-Fajr 89:1–2), highlighting their elevated status.

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) also emphasized their importance, saying, “There are no days during which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days” (Abu Dawud).

This shows that acts of worship during this period carry immense reward with a unique opportunity to draw closer to Allah (SWT) through fasting, prayer, charity, sacrifice and continuous remembrance of our creator and all the bounties He has bestowed upon us.

Even the smallest sincere deeds are greatly multiplied in reward, making this a powerful time for reflection, devotion, and generosity.

The Kamloops Islamic Association was honoured to join hundreds of Muslim community leaders from across British Columbia, alongside the NCCM - National Council of Canadian Muslims, at the BC Legislature for Advocacy Day.

The delegation participated in multiple meetings with elected officials from all political parties, raising critical issues affecting Muslim communities throughout the province.

At a time of rising Islamophobia and hate, the advocacy day emphasized the urgent need for meaningful action—standing firmly against hate while upholding the rights and freedoms protected by the Charter.

This visit marked the Kamloops Islamic Association’s first engagement at the BC Legislature, offering an important platform to convey the concerns, priorities, and lived experiences of the Kamloops Muslim community directly to provincial decision‑makers.

The Kamloops Islamic Association extends its sincere appreciation to NCCM for its leadership and coordination in organizing this impactful advocacy initiative in the pursuit of justice, inclusion, and community well‑being.

Allah’s beautiful Names, Al-Jawaad, Al-Mannaan, and Al-Wahhaab, reveal a special dimension of divine generosity.

Al-Jawaad (The Most Generous) is vast in His giving and generous beyond measure.

Al-Mannaan (The Bestower of Immense Favors) grants transformative gifts, such as life, faith, and guidance.

Al-Wahhaab (The Supreme Bestower) gives freely and repeatedly, without seeking anything in return.

These beautiful Names highlight that Allah’s generosity is like rain; it falls upon us not because we deserve it, but because His mercy encompasses all things, and His generosity is boundless.

When we reflect upon these Names, the heart is reshaped to live in gratitude, humility, and hope.

We echo NCCM's concerns about the persistent violations of international law in the Middle East.

We echo NCCM's concerns about the persistent violations of international law in the Middle East.

We acknowledge PM Carney’s statement on the need to respect international law and civilian protections in the latest illegal invasion of Southern Lebanon and attacks in Iran.

Many civilian lives and infrastructure have already been destroyed in this latest incursion.

That is why Canada must go beyond words when it comes to aligning with international law and human rights in Lebanon and Iran, as observed by previous Foreign Affairs Minister Lloyd Axworthy.

It is time for Canada to further explore sanctioning the Netanyahu government and to investigate returning IDF soldiers returning to Canada on war crime charges.

The Prophet ﷺ said, “Whoever fasts Ramadan and then follows it with six [days] from Shawwal, it’s as if they have fasted a year” [Sahih Muslim].

Fasting the 6 days of Shawwal is not obligatory, but voluntarily carried out in hope of its reward. Plus, you do not have to fast these days consecutively either–fasting any six days within the month is acceptable.

Questions About The 6 Days OF Shawwal - Dr. Omar Suleiman..Should I make up my missed Ramadan fasts or fast the 6 days of Shawwal first? Should I fast them i...
