This Sunday at First Baptist Church of Kamloops, we have the joy of celebrating the baptisms of Drake Bergen and Megan Tanner!

Baptism is a beautiful picture of what God has already done in the heart — buried with Christ and raised to walk in newness of life. As Drake and Megan go public with their faith, we welcome them as beloved members of the family of God, adopted by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.

Come rejoice with us as we witness these declarations of faith. All are welcome!

Celebrating New Life in Christ: The Baptism of Jordan & Megan Tanner

We are thrilled to announce the upcoming baptisms of Jordan and Megan Tanner at First Baptist Church of Kamloops!

Jordan will be baptized this Sunday, May 17, during our 11:00 AM worship service, and Megan will follow the next week on Sunday, May 24.

Baptism is one of the most beautiful moments in the life of a local church — a public declaration of an inward reality, as a believer identifies with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is an act of obedience, a testimony of faith, and a joyful confession before the body that says, "I belong to Him."

We invite our church family and anyone in the community to come witness and celebrate what God is doing in the lives of this couple. Come encourage Jordan and Megan as they take this step of faith together.

"We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life." — Romans 6:4

There are too many who quickly forsake their covenant with the church. But what does it mean to truly belong to the church? Another way of putting the question would be like this- What does it mean to call Jesus "King" — and actually live like it?

In Matthew 16:13–20, Peter makes the great confession: "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." And from that confession, Jesus introduces us to the church, the King, and the calling that binds them together.

Join us as Pastor Josh walks through what it means to be citizens of a coming Kingdom — and why the church is not a drive-through but a life raft.

This Sunday we begin a brand new sermon series: "The Church." Over the next ten weeks, we'll be walking through Scripture to recover a biblical vision for what the church is and why it matters — not as one option among many, but as the King's own gathering, established by Christ Himself.

We kick things off with "The King's Invitation" from Matthew 22:1–14. Jesus tells a parable about a king who throws a lavish wedding banquet for his son — and the shocking ways people respond to the invitation. What does this parable teach us about how God invites us into His kingdom, and what He expects of those who come?

Follow along live this Sunday morning, as Pastor Josh unpacks Matthew 22:1-14. Whether you're in Kamloops or tuning in from afar, we'd love to have you with us.

This Sunday, we rejoice as Maksim Pastoor publicly professes his faith in Jesus Christ through the waters of baptism! What a privilege it is to witness a young man declare before the congregation that Jesus is his Lord and Savior. In baptism, we don't just observe an ordinance — we welcome a brother into the family of God.

Maksim, as you rise from the watery depths of immersion, we receive you with open arms and grateful hearts as our brother in Christ, and we commit to walking alongside you as fellow members of the church of God. To all, we encourage you to celebrate this moment of redemption with us this Lord's Day!

What happens when the ordinary routines of life slowly replace God?

Jesus warned that the days before His return would look like the days of Noah and S***m — not dramatic wickedness, but people eating, drinking, buying, selling, planting, and building as though God didn't exist.

Sound familiar?

Follow along as Pastor Josh walks through Luke 18:1–8 — the Parable of the Persistent Widow — and confronts the question Jesus left hanging over every generation of his church:

"When the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?"

It's a question about prayer. It's a question about knowing the Living Word. It's a question about endurance. And it's a question about whether we will hand the faith to our children or let it quietly disappear on our watch.

So how do we endure? How do we make sure our children endure?

Jesus gave one answer. It's simpler than you expect — and much harder than you want it to be.
