Have you ever said something you wish you could take back? Words carry weight. They can heal or wound, guide or destroy, and James 3:1-12 makes that unmistakably clear.
James compares the tongue to a bit in a horse's mouth and a rudder on a massive ship. Small, yet it directs everything. He also calls it a fire, and we all know how fast a fire spreads. Proverbs 18:21 reminds us that death and life are in the power of the tongue.
Here is the good news: Jesus never stumbled in his words, and he went to the cross to pay for every careless, cutting, or cruel thing we have ever said. He offers grace, healing, and transformation from the inside out.
Steadfast faith is not just seen in what we believe — it is heard in what we say. Ask God to change your heart, and let that change your words.
