Hudson's Hope Chapel

This Sunday at Hudson's Hope Chapel, we begin After God's Own Heart, a new series following the life of David from the sheepfold, through years on the run, onto the throne, into grievous sin, and toward the promise of a better King.

David is remembered for courage, worship, and remarkable trust. He is also a deeply flawed man who abuses power, harms others, and needs mercy. So how, then, can Scripture call him "a man after God's own heart"?

In 1 Samuel 13, the phrase appears before David is even named. It begins not with David's spiritual achievement but with the Lord choosing a king for Himself. David's life then shows grace forming, confronting, forgiving, and repeatedly drawing a wandering heart back toward God's will.

Yet David cannot finally carry our hope. Acts 13 leads from God's chosen servant to Jesus, the perfectly obedient Son of David who dies, rises, and proclaims forgiveness to everyone who believes.

Tomorrow (Sunday Sept 6th), join us as we begin a new series looking at the life and legacy of David, a boy who became king, and a broken and flawed man, who was nonetheless “after God’s own heart”.
We also make space to hear a testimony from Isobel, about her time at Broken Wheel Camp. Isobel spent the time as a C**T junior leader this summer, and will be sharing about her time there, the ministry of the Camp, and the work God has been doing in her life, and through the camp.

Pastor Luke and the family are home safely from Fort St. John. It was a slightly long and restless night, but otherwise okay. Ruth was at the hospital for a routine procedure they couldn't complete here in Hudson's Hope, which went well, but took longer than expected.
Luke and Isobel will be at church tomorrow for our usual service, but we will leave shortly after our service finishes, and will not be able to stay for our usual meal, to get home and support Ruth.

Pastor Luke and the family are currently in Fort St John, after a short trip turned into a slightly unexpected overnight stay!
We’re hoping everything will be sorted soon, and we’ll be back in time for our usual Sunday morning service tomorrow, but depending on how things evolve in the morning, plans could still have to change. It is a little bit “wait and see” at this point.
Watch this space, we’ll keep you posted if we are not back in time for our service.

And we are back...

After a few weeks away, and a wonderful lakeside baptism service last week, we will be back to our usual location, at our usual time this morning.

As summer draws to a close, and what can be a busy season in its own right return to the hustle and bustle of everyday life, This Sunday at Hudson's Hope Chapel, we return to our summer series "Small Stories, Big Faith" with 1 Kings 19 and a message titled "God Meets the Weary".

Elijah has just witnessed the dramatic victory at Mount Carmel. Yet when chapter 19 opens, he is afraid, running for his life, and soon sitting alone beneath a tree saying, "It's enough. I'm done."

The Bible does not show us this so we can look down on Elijah. It shows us a faithful but finite servant who has reached the end of what he believes he can carry. The Lord responds with sustaining mercy, His correcting Word, the assurance that Elijah is not alone, and enough strength for the next faithful step.

This passage leads us to Jesus Christ, who comes near to the weary and carries the saving burden we never could.

This Sunday, we will be joining with our friends for House of Hope Community Church for a special open air service at Cameron Lake.

We will meet at the day use area at 10:30, for an 11:00am start. In addition to the opportunity to worship Bible study and fellowship together, we will also have a baptism Sunday. If you are interested in baptism, or would like to know more about what this may mean for you, please reach out to discuss this with us.

Our service will be followed by a shared pot luck lunch at the lake. All are welcome to join us.

Hey Hudson’s Hope Chapel family,

Just a quick reminder that Hudson’s Hope Chapel will be taking a short two-week summer break. There will be no Sunday services this Sunday or next Sunday.

We look forward to gathering together again for worship on Sunday, August 16th, at our usual time.

We pray that you have a restful and refreshing couple of weeks. Whether you’re travelling, spending time with family, or simply enjoying the summer weather, may the Lord encourage and strengthen you, and help you continue to grow in Him.

Grace at The King’s Table
