The first concert in the 2026-2027 Music in the Air concert series is coming up quickly, on September 27 at 3:00p.m. in the Sanctuary at BSMH, The Silver Swing Big Band, will once again entertain us with their melodious tunes. MUSIC IN THE AIR: 2026-2027 Season

So, the 2025-2026 season of Music in the Air is done, but plans have now been finalized for the 2026-2027 season! Here’s what is in store for our concert goers:

1. September 27, 2026 - The Silver Swing Big Band, (SSBB) in the Sanctuary, 3pm
2. October 25, 2026 –Broadway Without Borders (BWB)/Classic Blend, in the Sanctuary, 3pm
3. November 22, 2026 - Dixieland Plus, in the Sanctuary, 3pm
4. April 4 , 2027- Hamilton Children’s Choir, in the Sanctuary, 3pm
5. May 1, 2027 - Colamici, in the Sanctuary, 7pm
6. June 5, 2027 - Kokoro, in the Sanctuary, 7pm.

This lineup offers both favourite acts performing whole new songs and past play lists, along with exciting new groups such as Broadway Without Borders, Dixieland Plus and the Hamilton Children’s Choir. Our own Lloyd Spalding’s SSBB, returns to kick off the season: more Elvis perhaps? BWB, which includes our own Michael Boivin, performs with Classic Blend (women’s barbershop) including Barbara Carruthers. Come out once again to support your “homies”!

Then Colamici and Kokoro complete the series in glorious fashion. Again, we will fill the air with a combination of instrumental and choral music.

Something else is new this time – no January and February concerts. Too much chance that old man winter will play nasty games.

And all concerts this season will be held in the Sanctuary because of its warmth, beauty and acoustics as we celebrate the old room’s 180 years of existence in 2027!

The first four concerts are all Sunday matinees, the last two, Saturday night shows.
Rasy access. Joyous notes and voices of hope. We continue to be the “Music Church”.

Thank you to all our concert goers. BSMH audiences are loved by all our artists: they continue to comment on how receptive you are and want to return! You are the best and have helped big time to support our Free Lunch Program, this past year to the tune of $7,300.00.

Hey there! Tired of reading all the usual pitches from churches seeking an organist/choir director? Then Barton Stone-Mount Hope United might be just what you’re looking for. Our community of faith, and sanctuary, stretch back into the early 19th Century. We’re old! Over two hundred years. And singing all that time. Yet we are young - changing with the times while managing to hold tight to our amazing heritage.

We are the “Music Church”, offering humour in the room, a passion for music, and a family atmosphere that brings joy. The Holy Spirit motivates us.

As summer winds down, BSMH will be taking a short break from Sunday services on August 23 and August 30. During these weeks, we encourage everyone to rest, connect with family, enjoy God’s creation in nature, or visit a neighboring congregation. We will welcome everyone back for worship—in person and on Zoom—on Sunday, September 6 at 10:30 AM.

Thank you to everyone who gathered together on such a beautiful Sunday to make our service so special! In this week's message, we explored John 15:1–14, contrasting it to our culture’s pull toward romanticized isolation—such as the viral "loneliness influencers" featured in our contemporary reading—with Jesus’ call to abide in the Vine. While a fast-paced culture often responds to exhaustion by turning inward and retreating into isolation, Christ calls us to prune unnecessary busyness from our lives not merely for personal comfort, but for genuine fruitfulness. When we slow down and remain rooted in God's grace, we gain the capacity to step out of isolation and offer others our most precious resource: unhurried, undivided, sacrificial love.
