Our Story

St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church was established in 1906 as a spiritual home for people from diverse ethnic backgrounds. The tradition of making the Annual Novena of Nine Masses leading up to July 26th to honour the feast day of the patron of the church, St. Ann, was quickly established and continues to this day. Many favours and graces have been granted through her intercession!

We continue today to strive to bear witness to the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ through reverent and humble prayer directed to the Holy Trinity. The Bishop of Hamilton has appointed St. Ann’s to be a parish where both forms of the Sacred Liturgy are offered: The Novus Ordo in English and the Traditional Mass in Latin (TLM). We benefit from the depth of both of forms, which lead us closer to God.

The more our love for the Holy Trinity grows, the more we hear God’s call to bear witness through our actions. Lex Orandi, Lex Credendi, Lex Vivendi (The way we pray inspires what we believe, which then directs us to how we are to live). We strive to live in a way that is totally faithful to the life and teachings of Christ as preserved through the ages by the Catholic Church. We imitate Christ, whose humble service and love of neighbour was the fruit of authentic relationship with His heavenly Father.

We are striving to be a parish that fosters our love for God, challenges us to go deeper than we could on our own, and helps us to live like the saints, so that one day we will be able to join them in paradise.
