Come by our Third Space Cafe on Friday, June 5th for Crafts Night! We'll have scissors, magazines, glue, paper, and all the materials you'll need for your own crafty project (but feel free to bring your own!).

As usual, our potluck dinner starts at 6pm with stations set up shortly thereafter. This event runs until 8:30pm.

The documentary, Thinking Beyond the Market: A Film About Genuinely Affordable Housing is a cross-Canada tour of best practices that, if applied broadly, could mitigate the housing crisis.

Register early for a showing on Sunday May 17 at 2 p.m. followed by a panel discussion.

The best practices shown include Hamilton’s renoviction bylaw, strengthened rent controls, building non-profit housing on public land and a massive Indigenous project on Indigenous land near Vancouver. Dr. Brian Doucet, housing researcher and associate professor at the University of Waterloo, directed and will be present at the screening, along with a panel to discuss the ideas presented.

Mark your calendar for Saturday, May 2nd from 10am-noon for the Water is Life, not a Commodity! here at the First Unitarian Church of Hamilton.

▶️This free event will open with a water song by the Mohawk mother-daughter team of Marie and Elaina Jones.

▶️Then, there will be a variety of speakers including a short film about the Garner Marsh, updates from the Water Watchers, City of Hamilton’s Watershed Management group, and Green Venture.

▶️There will be activities for children and table displays by local non-profit groups.

Please come and help spread the work as we learn more about our local water and ecosystem!
