TrueCity is a network of congregations in Hamilton, ON who recognize God has called us to join Him in His mission to bring His best to our city and beyond. As we have journeyed together since 2004, our congregations have learned that we need to simultaneously pursue mission at a congregational level, at a collaborative Church-in-the-City level, and as God’s people scattered daily across all sectors of our city.

WEEK OF PRAYER - September 6-13!

We’re excited about the MANY in-person opportunities for prayer that will be happening around our city during the upcoming Week of Prayer.

Maybe there’s a local issue that you’ve been really feeling burdened for. Or maybe there’s a church that you’ve been meaning to visit but haven’t yet had the chance to.

This Week of Prayer is a beautiful opportunity to join others in the city to listen and learn about the various needs that exist, and then to spend some time in prayer for these things. We hope you will join us for this meaningful time together as a family of churches in Hamilton.

24/7 Prayer and GOHOP are hosting times of online prayer during the “Global Week of Prayer” (September 6-13), and we wanted to do something to coincide with this event. So we invited TrueCity churches to open their doors and host an Hour of Prayer, focussing on a different local issue that needs some prayer. We have had a beautiful response with many opportunities for prayer available, so if one (or more) of these issues are close to your heart, mark the date on your calendar and plan to come and spend some time in prayer with others in the city.

Stay tuned for where these times of prayer will be happening.

SAVE THE DATE!! - Saturday, November 14

CrossCulture is back and it’s happening this fall — a one-day worship and service event for teens in Hamilton.

If you’re interested in joining us, please head over to our website (www.crossculture.ca) and click on the “Sign Up Here” button before June 30th for a sweet treat. As a small thank you for filling out this form, we will send you an “Early Bird” code when registration opens in September.

We’d love to have your youth group there with us! Stay tuned for more details to come!

And at a time where there appears to be a great deal of division, there’s an invitation for us to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus as we strive to move forward together in faith and unity!”

“For over twenty years, Dave has led this movement of churches called TrueCity, helping local congregations engage in mission and serve as a visible expression of the unity-in-diversity of the body of Christ. Over these decades, the Lord has used Dave’s gifts of facilitation, peacemaking, encouragement, mercy, and wisdom, all held together with faith, hope, and love, to grow a handful of churches learning from one another into a movement of churches and ministries across the city. Moreover, TrueCity is now a movement known throughout North America — not for what the movement has done, but for what the Lord has done in our midst.”

Our final Pastors Gathering of this ministry year happened last Wednesday and it was great to have so many familiar (and NEW!) friends join us. Being in the same room and spending time with each other around tables to discuss, connect and pray is always a gift, and we’re excited to see what God is going to do as we continue to discover ways to be churches together for the good of this city.

The TrueCity Leadership Team is delighted to introduce Alice Plug-Buist as our next Network Developer.

A longtime resident of Hamilton, Alice is well known across the city for her passion for serving “the least of these” and helping Christians grow in their love for God and neighbour. She will be wrapping up her time later this summer as the Executive Director for Helping Hands Street Mission, and she also has extensive leadership experience as a board member of City Housing Hamilton, the Barton Village BIA, and Indwell.

“It’s an incredible honour and joy for me to take on the role with TrueCity. Jesus prayed for me and for all of us just before he went to the cross, and his prayer as that we would be “together”, so that the world might know that God sent Jesus. I am excited to take up the task of encouraging churches across Hamilton to find ways to work together, toward the greatest good of our City.”

We believe the Lord has brought Alice into this role for such a time as this, as we believe her experience in leadership, giftings, passion, and heart for cultivating unity will help the network continue to mature and thrive as Churches Together for the Good of the City.
