TrueCity Hamilton Growing as churches together for the good of the city.

TrueCity is a network of congregations in Hamilton, ON who recognize God has called us to join Him in His mission to bring His best to our city and beyond. As we have journeyed together since 2004, our congregations have learned that we need to simultaneously pursue mission at a congregational level, at a collaborative Church-in-the-City level, and as God’s people scattered daily across all sectors of our city.

We had such a great time planting trees this past Saturday morning with A Rocha and the City of Hamilton. Eight churches were represented, and 450 trees were planted in just a couple of hours. It’s so amazing to see what we can do when we do it together.

We want to say a BIG thank you to Amanda from A Rocha for arranging this event with the city and providing us with an opportunity to care for the environment and to show God’s love to our city in a very practical way.

We want to congratulate Indwell for the 23 new homes for families that have been built at Acorn Flats. Families will start moving in next week!! What a blessing to our city through the dedicated work and donations of many churches and Christians in Hamilton.

Welcome Baskets are being put together for the families that are moving in, but they are still needing more.

This month we are also praying for First Hamilton CRC. Please join us in praying for these requests that they shared with us:

* Please pray for our Christians Against Poverty (CAP) ministry. We are in the process of seeking the new CAP Centre Manager and Community Engagement Coordinator and would appreciate prayer for all applicants and the hiring team.

* Please pray for our Ministry Programs. Our full slate of programs for children, youth, and adults have started and we pray that our leaders will have the necessary energy and wisdom for their roles.

One of the churches that we’re praying for this month is the “newest” addition to our TrueCity network - Harmony Baptist Church.

As you spend time in prayer for them, here are some specific ways that you can be praying:

* Pray for the new people God is bringing into their church family, primarily new Canadian families who have recently immigrated, young adults from local universities, and couples who are retiring to the area. Please pray that all would feel welcome, and that the leadership would steward this growth with humility, wisdom and open hearts.

* Pray for Pastor Susan’s continued health and renewed strength as she has returned from a medical leave. We praise God for this wonderful news and pray for her as she gradually reconnects with the areas of ministry she oversees.

* Pray that God would raise up the people and resources needed for the year ahead with the various ministries the the church runs, and that they would recognize where God is already at work and have the courage and faith to follow Him.

And please come and join us at Harmony Baptist Church (1763 Upper James St) on Sunday, October 18 at 10:30am as we celebrate their TrueCity partnership in their morning service.
