Daniel Chapter 9 is a significant chapter in the Book of Daniel in the Bible. It contains the famous "Seventy Weeks" prophecy and focuses on Daniel's prayer of confession and intercession for the people of Israel. Here are the key takeaways from Daniel Chapter 9:

1. **Daniel's Prayer and Confession**: The chapter begins with Daniel realizing from the writings of Jeremiah that the desolation of Jerusalem would last seventy years. He understands that the time of captivity is coming to an end, and he prays to God, confessing the sins of Israel and seeking mercy and forgiveness.

2. **Seventy Weeks Prophecy**: One of the most important parts of the chapter is the prophecy of the "seventy weeks." In response to Daniel's prayer, the angel Gabriel appears to him and provides a vision of seventy weeks that are determined for the people of Israel and Jerusalem. These "weeks" are often interpreted as a symbolic representation of years. The prophecy outlines the future events and the coming of the Messiah.

3. **Messiah's Arrival and Crucifixion**: The prophecy foretells the arrival of the "Anointed One" (Messiah) after sixty-nine weeks (483 years) from the decree to rebuild Jerusalem. This is often interpreted as a reference to the coming of Jesus Christ. It is believed that Jesus' public ministry began around this time and eventually led to His crucifixion, which fulfilled the prophecy's description of the Anointed One being "cut off."

4. **Covenant and Desolation**: The prophecy also mentions a future "covenant with many" that will be confirmed for one week (seven years). In the middle of this week, the sacrifices will cease and desolation will come upon the Temple. This portion of the prophecy is often associated with end-times interpretations and discussions of the Antichrist.

5. **The Conclusion**: The chapter concludes with Daniel's reaction to the vision and his attempts to understand its meaning. He is troubled and seeks clarification from the angel Gabriel, who provides further insights and explanations.

Overall, Daniel Chapter 9 highlights Daniel's deep devotion, his concern for his people, and the revelation of future events through the seventy weeks prophecy. The chapter is significant for its Messianic prophecies and its role in shaping eschatological discussions within Christian theology.

A MESSAGE FROM THE PASTOR

Dear Church members and friends,

Hope all are doing well by the grace of God. I uphold you everyday in my prayers and pleading God’s special protection on you and your family. Even in this crisis God will lead us through, because we are sheltered under His mighty wings.

I pray that you do have enough food and necessities that can keep you going for a week or two. If there is something that you need for yourself, please let our elders or me know, so that we could supply what’s important to you. My prayer is that none of you will loose your job(s) or asked not to report to work. If this has happened to you, please let me know. As a church, we like to help you. Kindly follow the recommendations and protocols given by our church and government. Let’s uphold each other in prayers.

Please don’t forget our Church. Our church’s financial stability depends on your generous giving. Whether we assemble or not we need to pay our utilities and maintain our church building. Our church has online facilities to receive your tithe and offerings. You can download the app, “AdventistGiving.” You can download the app on your iPhone or Android phones and pay it through your bank card or credit card. Those who cannot use AdventistGiving, please use our tithe envelopes and pass the offering to our treasurer, Phyllis Reid. Another option is that you can use a regular envelop and mail it to our church, attention to Phyllis Reid. Please don’t enclose cash in the envelope when you mail it.

We are trying to see whether we could stream our Worship, but no success thus far, because I am not equipped to do this. Contemplating to use Zoom program, it will be successful only for those who have access to online facilities. There are some seniors who do not have such facilitates. So please watch Hope Channel or 3ABN and hopefully, we could come out with some solution.

God be with you and be assured that I am always available for you. You can call me anytime, and my home number is 519 342 5181, mobile 905 818 5646.

Blessings,

Pastor.

COVID-19 CANCELLATION
. Following increased and overwhelming concerns about the COVID-19 virus, we felt this was the best way to proceed during such an unprecedented global situation.

In order to protect the large number of vulnerable seniors and residents in our community, the Safety Committee felt it was best to suspend church services and other activities for two weekends starting IMMEDIATELY.

The CHURCH will not be open for services on Sabbath March 14 and March 21. We will update you as the pandemic progresses and as the situation evolves.

Thank you for understanding

TAKE NOTE
COVID-19 Precautions and Suggestions below
Streaming of the Sermon is under consideration- We will keep you updated

Church Offerings- Tenants in the Apartments may give their offerings to Phyllis Reid, our Church Treasurer.
And Now is a good time to use the online giving portal

The committee will be meeting again to assess the changing situation and will advise the next steps.

There may be changes down the road in how we handle potlucks, greeting, and how we sanitize the church.
