St. Andrew's United - Halifax, NS

St. Andrew's United - Halifax, NS We are a social justice community in the heart of Kjipuktuk Halifax, on the corner of Coburg & Robie. You may ask - what is Church? The life and work of St.

Our answer - Church is all of it! Andrew's focuses on the expansive Church, not just Sunday morning. All are welcome at St. Andrew's. We practice active diversity and aim to be open, welcoming, and supportive of all those who enter our doors. We seek to bring together diverse perspectives that intersect our community. This is a place of transformation, inclusion, safety, support, compassion, and healing.

This Sunday we will have a slightly shorter worship service that will transition into our Annual General Meeting. We’ll start it all with this hymn:

we are one as we come, joyful to be here
in the praise on our lips there’s a sense that God is near.
We are one as we sing,
as we seek, we are found,
and we come needful of God’s grace as we meet,
together in this place.

Looking forward to being joyful with you, this Sunday in worship and community.

We Are The Day After
Israeli-Palestinian Joint Memorial Ceremony
April 20 at 2:30pm (doors open at 2pm)
In the Sanctuary at Saint Andrew’s

The Joint Memorial Ceremony, organized by Combatants for Peace and the Parents Circle – Families Forum, takes place on Yom HaZikaron, Israel’s Memorial Day. Across the country, families gather in cemeteries to remember those who have been killed in the conflict. Over time, the meaning of this day has become distorted and too often used to justify continued violence, reinforce fear, and sustain a reality with no political horizon. The pain and loss of a family should never be used to justify or normalize violence - whether carried out by a state or by individuals.

This ceremony offers a different path. It brings Palestinian and Israeli bereaved families together in shared remembrance, not to erase difference, but to acknowledge it, and to insist that grief must not be used to prepare us for more loss. It is a call to recognize one another’s humanity and to confront the systems of occupation, inequality, and violence that continue to shape all of our lives.

The ceremony will take place in Israel, with a simultaneous event in Palestine, alongside screenings across Israel and gatherings around the world. It reflects a growing movement of people who refuse the logic of endless war and are working together to build what comes after. Register https://www.jotform.com/form/260744081794463 to receive all the live broadcast information you need to be a part of the ceremony, from wherever you are in the world.

What a beautiful day we had on Sunday! Thank you to our Social Justice Committee for organizing it. The service, designed and presided over by Rev. Andrea Harrison, wove together music, scripture, prayers and powerful speakers, focused on Palestine. Palestinian goods were sold before and after the service. We enjoyed a wonderful Palestinian lunch, and many stayed after to participate in the Palestine Land Exercise. Thank you to all involved!
