Today's powerful message reminded us of the power of our words and how, if we're not careful, our words can open the door for the enemy to steal God's best for our lives.
We must agree with what God says and avoid speaking anything that contradicts His Word. Our words carry power and often come back to us. We see this in the life of Job, who declared, "What I feared has come upon me." Fear and negative confession opened a door for the enemy to work in his life. But when Job's story was complete, God restored everything he had lost and even more. Let us be mindful not to give place to the devil through the words we speak.
We were also reminded of Paul and Silas in Acts 16. Though they were falsely accused and imprisoned for doing the right thing, they chose to worship God instead of complaining. What a powerful example for us when we face trials, disappointments, and opposition. As they worshipped, God moved mightily. The prison shook, chains were broken, and lives were impacted, including those of the other prisoners.
There is great power in worshipping through the trials. When we choose praise over complaint, we make room for God to move.
“The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life.”
John 6:63 NIV
