BLT Fall Fair 2026 photo highlights coming later this week.

In the meantime, can we give some appreciation to Martin Geertsema?

🏆 2026 Volunteer of the Year! 🏆

Every team has that person who somehow ends up doing a little bit of everything. This year, that was Martin.

He was part of the planning team, organized pickups, helped BBQ, built an entire new carnival game (the High Striker!), picked up food and equipment, and somehow turned his trailer into Fall Fair headquarters; storing equipment and supplies for weeks leading up to the event.

Martin went way above and beyond to help make this year's fair happen, and we’re incredibly grateful for him.

Thanks for all that you do in our community!

On National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we invite our Halifax Church community to slow down and pause together to honour Indigenous peoples, to remember the painful history that has shaped so many lives, and to hold space for the grief, healing, and hope that continue today.
 
We grieve what has been lost and what has been broken, while holding onto the hope that healing and reconciliation can grow when we are willing to face the truth, listen with humility, and walk faithfully alongside one another.
 
As followers of Jesus, we believe reconciliation begins with a willingness to listen, to learn, and to tell the truth about our history. May we honour the voices and experiences of Indigenous peoples, make room for their stories, and seek relationships marked by respect, trust, and mutual care. 
 
May we not treat reconciliation as a single day of remembrance, but as an ongoing invitation to learn, to build relationships, to pursue justice, and to live more fully into the way of Jesus. May the way we remember today shape the way we listen, love, and walk alongside others throughout our lives.

SABBATH SUNDAY 🌿

Because of the weather, we’ve made the decision to postpone the BLT Fall Fair until next weekend (Oct 4).

And because the Fall Fair was going to be our Sunday gathering this week, there will be no regular church service this Sunday (27th).

Instead, we’re leaning into our Sabbath Sunday rhythm.

Sabbath is an invitation to stop, breathe, rest, and remember that we are not held together by what we accomplish or produce.

So this Sunday— sleep in, take a walk, share a meal, spend time with the people you love, read, pray, enjoy the goodness of God, rest, and remember that God says you are deeply loved.

We look forward to gathering together at the baseball field next Sunday, October 4, for our BLT Fall Fair.

Until then, may this unexpected Sabbath be a gift. 🧡

Due to the weather forecast, we’ve made the decision to postpone the BLT Fall Fair until next weekend.

We're saddened by the news as well!

We know so many of you have been looking forward to Sunday, and we’re disappointed too! But we want to make sure everyone can enjoy the fair safely and fully — with sunshine, games, food, music, and plenty of fun. 🧡

The new date is Sunday, October 4, 12-4pm! 🎉

Everything else stays the same — it’s still completely FREE, and we can’t wait to celebrate our community together!
