For the August for the Association of Canadian Archivists, we're taking a break from school and work to celebrate !

Two Sisters play "Power Play" table hockey during recreation time in the St. Anne's Convent community room, December 1960. The Sisters came to Ste-Anne-Du-Ruisseau, formerly known as Eel Brook, in 1872 to teach in the local school. The convent closed in 1963.

The Sisters living at Caritas enjoyed a beautiful outing to Peggy’s Cove, sharing friendship, laughter, and gratitude amid Nova Scotia’s breathtaking coastal scenery. It was a refreshing day and a wonderful opportunity to appreciate God’s creation.

What a feast! 🦞

Last Sunday, August 16, everyone at Marillac enjoyed a delicious lobster and steamer dinner. S. Theresa Joseph Kramer's nephew and his wife generously collected, shelled, and froze Maine lobsters throughout the summer, sending enough for everyone to share.

Molly, our kitchen manager, prepared lobster sandwiches with all the fixings and added steamers to complete the meal. It was a fun and memorable gathering—and everyone left happy and satisfied!

A heartfelt thank-you to S. Theresa Joseph’s family, Molly, and everyone who helped make this special meal possible. ❤️

Sister Maria Clare Kehoe (1887 - 1986) discusses her life as a Sister of Charity – Halifax with Sister David Marie Campbell. Sister Maria Clare spent 48 years as a teacher to grades primary to 4 and reminisces on her time spent at missions in Vancouver, British Columbia (1927-1948) and Halifax, Nova Scotia (1948-1981). Sister Maria Clare retired at 1959 from teaching and at age 93, is reflecting on her experience as a self-proclaimed “Senior Sister."

The Sisters of Charity–Halifax officially opened our 23rd General Chapter: For the Sake of the World.

Gathered together in prayer and community, Sisters entered into this sacred time guided by the words: “Blessed are they who bear the light.”

Sister Anna Pottie is seen here bottling her cucumber pickles at Gillis House in October 1997. Sister Anna served as House Supervisor at Gillis House, a home for men recovering from alcoholism in Boisdale, NS. Sister Anna ministered there from 1992 until 1998, and spoke fondly of her ministry there for years to come.
