Take time during the month of October to recognize the significant role that Muslim communities play in Canadian society and seek out their extraordinary contributions.
This year has been difficult for Muslim communities across Canada, as we saw the horrific results of racism and hate.

Together, we must combat all forms of discrimination, Islamophobia and hate-fueled violence directed at Muslim communities across the country. This month is a time to continue working toward a compassionate, inclusive and safer Canada for everyone.

Great and Holy Mystery, Comforter, Advocate,
Receive our prayers at this sacred time for the families of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, and two-spirited people.
They have waited for a very long time to share their stories.
They have waited for a very long time to obtain a true sense of justice and reach a true place of peace.
Receive our prayers, at this important time, for the National Day of Action for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.
May each story and journey unfold in a way that honours those who have been lost and that respects in every way in which it acts, speaks, and conducts its business, the needs and wishes of the families and loved ones of those who have been lost. Amen.

Bethany United Church is located on land known as We’kwaltjik, Kjipuktuk, Sipekne’katik.

Bethany United Church acknowledges Mi’kma’ki, the traditional territory upon which our community of faith gathers in life and work. For many thousands of years, the Mi’kmaq Peoples have sought to walk gently on this land and travel graciously on the waters. As a community of faith, we stand at a crucial time in the life of the church, and the history of Canada, to commit to travelling further together with our First Nation kin. We tried to make Mi’kmaq Peoples be like us and in so doing we helped to destroy the vision that made them what they were. For more than thirty years, the United Church and Indigenous peoples have been on a journey towards mutuality, respect and equity. Towards reconciliation. Towards justice. Towards peace. Towards friendship.

🥨 Help us always appreciate the small, quiet work God is doing in the dark.
🥨Fill us with the living leaven of Your Holy Spirit so that our lives may bring forth love, grace, and truth.
🥨Make me an agent of hidden, positive influence in my community, my family, my school, and my work. 🥨Teach me to be patient with growth, steadfast in faith, and willing to do small acts of goodness that yield eternal fruit. Amen.

🥨Next cluster will be in November… if you know a youth who would be interested in joining us to nurture their spiritual resilience … we have space for them.
