For 141 years, God has been faithfully using The Salvation Army to serve, love, and share the hope of Jesus with the people of Halifax.

On August 9, 1885, The Salvation Army arrived in Nova Scotia.

The Salvation Army's flag unfurled in Halifax for the first time, marking the beginning of its ministry in the province. From the very first day, the response was remarkable. Hundreds gathered, with crowds filling the streets around the Army's meeting place on Brunswick and Prince Streets.

What began with a small group of Salvationists in Halifax grew into a lasting ministry of faith, hope, and service throughout Nova Scotia and the Maritimes.

Today, 141 years later, we give thanks for the legacy of those who came before us and continue the mission of bringing hope and practical help to those in need.
