This Sunday, June 7th at 11am we will be talking about the topic Reflections On Our Community. As we draw closer to the end of the church year and move into summer, it is a good time to spend a moment contemplating what's gone well and where UCG might consider a change or two.

Join us in-person at 122 Harris St. or online via Zoom while we ponder questions such as:

1. What excites you most about being a part of this faith community?

2. What aspect(s) of this community hold the greatest value for you?

3. What single action do you think would have the greatest impact on the future of this congregation?

4. I feel hopeful for our faith when we...

Join UCG members Lisa Clendening and Brien Miron on Sunday, May 31 at 11am either in-person at 122 Harris St or online via Zoom for Qigong for the Year of the Fire Horse: Staying Grounded Amid Change. Child care is available and all are welcome!

This reflective and experiential service will explore how we can remain centered during times of rapid transformation and uncertainty.
As we move toward summer — the season associated in Traditional Chinese Medicine with the Fire element — we may notice increasing intensity, activity, emotional energy, and movement both within ourselves and in the world around us.
The service will include a 20-minute Qigong practice focused on skillfully working with Fire energy while cultivating the grounding and stabilizing qualities of the Earth element through mindful movement, breath, and awareness.
Participants are invited to wear comfortable clothing suitable for gentle movement. Movements can be adapted for different abilities, and the practice may also be done seated if needed. Come prepared to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and cultivate greater steadiness, resilience, and presence amidst the turbulence and rapid change of our times.

In Buddhism the notion of hope is held lightly, as something not to be depended upon in the sense of blind faith or wishful thinking. Wise hope that is not idealistic or disconnected from how things actually are. Wise hope offers a way to remain engaged in life with it’s difficulties, and to not lose sight of kindness and compassion in the way that we meet the world.

Elisabeth Schramm is a community meditation and yoga teacher. You can find out more about her and her work at elisabethschramm.com.

Join us this Sunday, May 10th at 11am for a service about Relentless Love presented by Linda Reith at 122 Harris St or online via Zoom (link available on Our Services page on our website). There will be tea, coffee, and discussion after the service. Childcare is available during the service. All are welcome!

Service Description:
Mother’s Day is a powerful day to consider relentless love.  Motherhood is a commitment we barely know we are signing up for when we conceive.  Fortunately, our hormones step in with an overwhelming flow of love when our baby lands in our arms.  We, as an aspiring beloved community, are also committed to unconditional love. Together, we will explore what that looks like in action.

The Garden We Tend - Rev. Victoria Ingram

The pictures we've see from the planets we have studied tend to show
us harsh landscapes, barren of field or flower, extreme in their rocky
appearance. It makes you glad to go outside and realize that we are
lucky to live on a planet with gardens! Today we talk about taking
care of our Earthly home.

Today our Earth relations are communicating with us in the form of extreme fires, floods, winds and Indigenous calls for truthful reconciliation. In his talk, Climate of Change, Professor Leduc will reflect not only on the external climate changes we are experiencing, but how those changes are intertwined with planetary responses to our ways of living in relation to emerging research on the mental health benefits of Earth connection, eco-grief and climate anxiety.

Timothy B. Leduc is an Associate Professor at Wilfrid Laurier University. He is currently working on a book project that looks at the role of fostering Earth connection in deepening our sense of climate justice, nature-based healing and spiritual mindfulness.

Some of us bring animals into our homes, some of us keep animals on our property. Some animals come for a visit, and some do their best to stay out of our way. Whether we are pet parents or animal admirers, creatures are a vital part of the interconnected web and they contribute to our well-being in many ways. This Sunday, we'll look at what we can learn from the animals, as well as how we can be effective advocates for the wild, feral, domestic, and commercial animals of our world.

Join our congregation and Rev. Victoria Ingram at 11am this Sunday, April 12th for singing, community, and discussion in-person at 122 Harris St or online via Zoom. Service link and details are available on our website under Our Services (link in bio). Childcare is available during the service and all are welcome!
