Behind every camp activity, game, laugh, and conversation about God, there’s a team of people making it happen.

This summer, EPIC + Onside brought kids together for a season filled with fun, learning, and opportunities to grow in their faith. But behind the scenes, something just as meaningful was taking place: young leaders were being equipped to lead.

Through training and hands-on experience, staff were prepared not only to support the activities, but to grow as leaders themselves and invest in the next generation. We’re so grateful for the opportunity to empower young people right here in our own communities to lead, serve, and reach even more kids with the love of Christ.

The camps may be over, but the impact of investing in these leaders continues.

He previously served seven years as Lead Pastor at Central Baptist Church in Victoria, BC, 13 years as Lead Pastor of Dunbar Heights Baptist Church in Vancouver, and four years as a Resident Director doing student ministry at Trinity Western University. His writing and preaching are known for having clear Bible teaching, engaging stories, and honest wrestling with difficult topics of faith and life. Through the Encounter Prayer Plan (1x1x1=1), we ask our chaplains to pray that God would allow them the opportunity to do four things: have an intentional encounter, have a purposeful conversation, have a discovery engagement, and have the privilege of seeing someone come to faith in Christ. Over this past ministry year (September 2025 to August 2026) our chaplains have reported over 140 professions of faith and 9 rededication decisions (and these are only the ones that have been reported!). We are grateful to God for producing fruit from the seeds planted by our chaplains.

Spiritual growth is not a seasonal experience. It doesn't, or shouldn't, go into hibernation for the winter. While our growth as congregations and individuals may adjust with the seasons, spiritual growth must be continual and flourishing. Building good habits to support spiritual growth, breaking out of those periods of stagnation, and seeing transformation take place are key. Veteran pastor and Fellowship author Darryl Dash offers us some important resources to help. Both books are available on Amazon in print and digital versions.

My name is Jo-Ann Lesage and I would like to introduce you to the “Projet Rassasié” (Project Satiated) Ministry. I have been serving there as a volunteer chaplain for five years, and Mrs. Bourassa, a sister in our Trois-Rivières Baptist Church, is in charge of food services. In the spring and summer, we offer the homeless hot dogs from the BBQ, along with cold drinks, chips, and desserts, and we also give each person a loaf of bread donated by a local bakery. In the fall and winter, we cook macaroni with vegetables and meat for them, along with a homemade dessert. When people arrive at the park, we give them coffee. As a chaplain, I tell them about Jesus, who is gentle and humble, and I pray that our Heavenly Father may draw them to Himself.

I leave you with this beautiful verse: “With long life I (God) will satisfy him and show him my salvation.” Psalm 91:16 (NIV)
