Good news!

Today we celebrate with University Christian Church - Austin, TX on becoming *officially* Open & Affirming, after several years of doing good and faithful work! Senior Pastor Megan Peglar writes:

"University Christian Church in Austin, Texas is just steps away from the University of Texas campus and takes seriously God's call to love, affirm, and welcome everybody. When I was in Search and Call in 2020, the church's congregational profile said that UCC was an O&A congregation, even though I later learned we hadn't yet gotten the official designation. That wasn't an intentional misrepresentation, though. In 2015, the board had passed a marriage equality resolution; we are a founding congregation of the Labyrinth Progressive Student Ministry; and LGBTQIA+ individuals have been vital members and leaders of UCC for many years, so it was just assumed that we were 'official.' When the church learned that wasn't the case, we took the necessary steps and are thrilled to be counted among those congregations where members of the LGBTQIA+ community will feel welcomed, cherished, and reminded of the beloved children
of God that they are."

What a great affirmation of UCC's work in the Austin community. Welcome, UCC!
