🌱 Todays story of hope and healing,
"One of my favourite scripture passages is Isaiah 43:19,
“Behold, I am doing a new thing;
now it springs forth,
do you not perceive it?"
If relationships or community are the soil in which all growth and
recovery takes place, Step Study might be the fertilizer that God
uses to help create this “new thing” that he promises will “spring
forth”.
I say that because each time that I’ve completed a Step Study, I’ve
experienced a change or a shift that has been key to my recovery.
Early step studies focused on my forgiveness of childhood hurts,
greater self-awareness, and my learning to apologize as needed for
my role in conflicts.
And this latest Step Study, my fifth, has also felt like a shift in my
recovery.
As I look back on these past eight months, relationships in CR have
definitely been at the core of my growth. It is within these
relationships that I have been forced to see things in a new
way, to lean further into God, and usually to grow and stretch in
ways that aren’t always easy or comfortable.
It isn’t always pretty,
but I do end up being changed, and slowly, I feel myself yet again
being made new.
While it hasn’t been a straight line, and sometimes it feels like two
steps forward, one step back, I do see the growth. I know that the
tools and skills that I am learning in this program have helped me
improve all of my relationships.
I listen more deeply to others’
points of view, I make amends, I offer forgiveness and I am
generally more tolerant and accepting of others.
I know that I still have lots of room to grow but I’m grateful for the growth I’ve seen. So, after completing this latest Step Study, I am still experiencing
and seeing new growth.
And for me, that’s exactly why I am here."
