What a wonderful way to wrap up the summer ☀️- bidding farewell to our big kids who are off to college and university 🎓 (good luck Nick, James, Gabby, and Daniel)! A special thank you to our Prayer Shawl ladies, as we were able to present the kids with shawls in their new school colours. We followed that up with Sunday Sundaes 🍨. Enjoy the last week of summer kids!

We are delighted to celebrate one of our longtime parishioners, Michael Nightingale, whose remarkable career in higher education is being recognized in a retrospective article marking his years as the founding Vice-Provost and Chief Academic Officer of the University of Guelph-Humber.

Here at St. George's, we know Michael not only for his remarkable professional accomplishments, but also for his faithful presence in our parish community. In recent years, he has devoted countless hours to preserving the history of St. George's by leading the project to archive nearly 200 years of parish records in partnership with the Guelph Public Library, ensuring they will be preserved and accessible for generations to come.

We give thanks for Michael's generosity, wisdom, and commitment to serving others, both within our parish and throughout the wider community. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition!

Enjoy the sounds of Canada Day in a Downtown Guelph tradition! 🇨🇦

As Guelph marks Canada’s 159th birthday, residents and visitors are invited to experience a cherished Canada Day tradition in the heart of Downtown Guelph 🍁

At 12PM on Wednesday, July 1, the bells of St. George’s Anglican Church will ring out across the downtown core during a special 30-minute carillon recital. For the opening moments of the performance, the Basilica of Our Lady will join in, creating a unique and memorable musical tribute to Canada Day.

The carillon is a rare instrument consisting of dozens of finely tuned tower bells that are played by hand from a keyboard inside the bell tower. The recital will be performed by Don Hamilton, who has served as St. George’s carillonneur since 1987. His performance will fill the surrounding streets with music that can be enjoyed from nearby patios, sidewalks, and public spaces throughout the downtown.

For the best listening experience, visitors are encouraged to gather along historic Douglas Street, where the sound of the bells can be appreciated in all their richness.

The Downtown Guelph Business Association is pleased to partner with St. George’s Anglican Church in presenting this annual community tradition and invites everyone to pause, listen, and celebrate Canada Day through the timeless sound of the carillon 🔔
