Mark 5:21–43 | The Day Disease and Death Were Destroyed

In this passage, we see Jesus meet a woman who had been suffering for twelve years and a father whose daughter was dying. Both situations seemed hopeless, but neither sickness nor death was beyond Christ’s power.

Jesus healed the woman and raised the little girl from the dead. What a beautiful reminder that Christ has authority over disease, suffering, and even death itself.

“Do not fear, only believe.” -Mark 5:36

WHAT IS THE GOOD NEWS?

The word gospel simply means good news—the good news of what God has done for sinners through Jesus Christ.

God made us for His glory. He is perfectly holy and just, but every one of us has sinned against Him. We have all fallen short of His glory. And sin is not a small thing—it is rebellion against the God who made us, and it deserves His judgment.

One day, every one of us will stand before God and give an account.

But here is the good news: God, in His mercy, did not leave us without hope.

He sent His Son, Jesus Christ.

Jesus is truly God and truly man. He lived the perfectly righteous life that we could never live. Then He willingly gave Himself on the cross in the place of sinners and bore the judgment our sins deserved. He died, was buried, and on the third day He rose bodily from the grave.

Jesus is alive, and He is Lord.

And we cannot make ourselves right with God by trying to be better people, becoming more religious, or doing enough good things. We could never do enough. Salvation is entirely by the grace of God.

Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).

God calls us to repent and believe in Christ. Turn from your sin and trust in Jesus Christ alone. Everyone who comes to Him in faith is forgiven and counted righteous before God—not because of any good thing we have done, but because of what Christ has done for us and His righteousness received by faith alone.

Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners.

So if you are still trusting in yourself, don’t keep putting Christ off. Turn from your sin and trust in Him.

And please don’t think that your sins are too great, or that you have gone too far for God to save you. Jesus Himself said, “Whoever comes to me I will never cast out” (John 6:37).

Come to Christ. He will not turn away the sinner who comes to Him. In Christ there is forgiveness, peace with God, and eternal life.

📖 Acts 20:1–38 | Faithful to the End

In Acts 20, Paul shows us what faithfulness to Christ looks like - serving with humility, proclaiming the whole counsel of God, caring for Christ’s church, and finishing the ministry entrusted to us by the grace of God.

“But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus.” Acts 20:24

📖 The Book of Revelation | Inductive Bible Study

Join us tomorrow, Wednesday at 7:00 PM, as we continue our study through Revelation 7.

What is Inductive Bible Study?

Inductive Bible study is a careful, prayerful study of Scripture that seeks to understand what God has actually said. We observe the text carefully, interpret it in its context and in light of the whole of Scripture, and apply its truth to our lives - depending on the Holy Spirit and submitting ourselves to God’s authoritative, sufficient, and infallible Word.

Simply put, we want Scripture to shape what we believe, rather than bringing our own ideas to Scripture.

Come with your Bible and a heart ready to learn from God’s Word.

“The sum of your word is truth, and every one of your righteous rules endures forever.”
- Psalm 119:160

📖 Acts 19:11–41 | The Word of Christ Prevails

In Acts 19, we see the gospel advance despite opposition, and the Word of the Lord continue to prevail.

“So the word of the Lord continued to increase and prevail mightily.”
- Acts 19:20

💡Did You Know?

Seventy years ago this month, in August 1956, the first Sunday School and Adult Bible Fellowship began here in Azilda - the beginnings of what would later become Azilda Baptist Chapel.

For 70 years, the Lord has faithfully sustained His people and kept a gospel witness in this community. We thank God for those who served faithfully before us and pray that we would carry on with fresh zeal to make Christ known to the next generation.

“For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.” Psalm 100:5
