Everyone is welcome.

Excerpt from reflection on Matthew 9:9–13,18–26

Last week I mentioned a term “Missio Dei” the mission of God.

As individuals this means we are participants in God’s work.
Missio Dei means our life is a unique God‑given way of participating in God’s healing reconciling and renewing work in the world. Each of us carry God’s reconciling presence as a peacemaker bridge‑builder a presence of hope a voice of compassion a sign of God’s welcome

For St. Paul’s – this means we exist because God is sending us out into the community.
It means we become outward‑facing. Missio Dei encourages us to ask: What is God doing in our neighbourhood? What needs wounds or hopes is God inviting us to respond to? It means Saint Paul’s becomes a sent people not a gathered audience. Saint Paul’s becomes a place of belonging and renewal. Saint Paul’s is a community where people feel seen known and invited into God’s story.

Missio Dei means that God is already at work in each of us, and in this community we call St. Paul’s.
God is already at work in our neighbourhood. Our calling is simply to join that work with openness courage and joy.

The call is clear and gracious: May each of us follow God into God’s mission.

In a few moments we will sing the hymn “Will you come and follow.” As you sing the words, open your heart and mind to where God may be calling you right now. Where ever God is calling each of us may we be able to sing with boldness “Let me turn and follow you and never be the same. In your company I'll go, where your love and footsteps show, thus I'll move and live and grow in you, and you in me.”

Excerpt from reflection on Matthew 28:16-20

The Great Commission Jesus calls us to is not a burden but a privilege. Jesus is not assigning homework; He is inviting us to take part in His work. The God who created the world is now recreating it through the Risen Christ and we are drawn into that story. We are called to be partakers with Godin building His Kingdom on earth, as it is in heaven.
