St. Paul's is a very welcoming community. We are a family who prays with and for one another. Come and join us.

While our Little People's Church is taking a summer break there is a children's space, crafts and books availble at the back of the church.

In our Intercessions this week we pray for all the members of our parish especially the Ralph, Randell, Raymond, Rodgers, Ruby, Saunders and Skanes
families.

Excerpt from reflection on Matthew 18:15–20

Jesus assumes conflict will happen. Jesus does not expect a community where everyone behaves perfectly. He does not imagine a church where cross words and hurt never occur.

Jesus imagines a community of real human beings who will misunderstand who will fail who will speak too quickly who will act too slowly who will forget offend or hurt all of which can lead to conflict. And because He assumes conflict He teaches reconciliation. Reconciliation which leads to healing and restoration. This is important for us to understand. We may be Christians but we are all still human.

Jesus does not treat conflict as a sign of failure. But He does treat unresolved conflict as a sign of danger. Jesus knows that a small hurt left unattended becomes a larger hurt. A small misunderstanding left unnamed becomes a deeper misunderstanding.

So Jesus says “Go.” Go before resentment hardens. Go before silence becomes permanent. Go before the relationship becomes brittle. Go because love requires courage.

Healing can only happen when one person has the courage and love to go to another person and say “Let’s talk.” Hopefully the other person will agree to have a conversation and the reconciliation and healing process may begin.

Excerpt from reflection on Matthew 16:21–28

To take up the cross is to choose the path that saves not because it is easy but because it is true. Not because it is comfortable but because it is holy.
Not because it avoids suffering but because it transforms suffering into salvation.

Peter’s mistake was not loving Jesus too much. His mistake was loving Jesus in a way that tried to protect Jesus from His mission. We do the same when we try to shape Jesus into a Messiah who fits our preferences our comfort our expectations. But Jesus calls us to follow to walk behind Him trusting that the path He chooses is the path that leads to life.

So today Jesus stands before us and says “Take up your cross. Follow me. Lose your life and find it.” These are not the harsh demands of a distant God but the quiet invitation of Jesus who knows that the life we cling to is too small too guarded too afraid to ever satisfy us. Jesus calls us into a deeper way a braver way a way where surrender becomes freedom and self‑giving becomes joy. When we lay down the need to protect ourselves at all costs, we discover a life held by grace rather than fear. And as we follow Him step by step day by day, we will find that the path of the cross is not the road to ruin but the road to resurrection where our truest life is waiting to be found.
