SEEKING YOUTH PARTICIPANTS FOR RESEARCH (PAID $$$)

Only 20 spots available!

REQUIREMENTS:
- Ages 12-24 years old
- Live in New Waterford or Glace Bay (or surrounding areas like Dominion, Bridgeport, Reserve Mines, etc.)
- Willing to collaborate in a group
- Able to attend 3 in-person workshops

BENEFITS:
- Have your voice heard
- Make $25/hour, up to a total of $150 for all 3 workshops

You are invited to take part in a research study focused on preventing substance use among youth by creating safer and more supportive spaces in the community.

By working with youth to listen to their experiences and co-design changes to a space they choose, this study asks how trauma-informed design of a physical space can support youth’s well-being and help prevent substance use.

Had a great conversation with the Island Skateboard Association last week about their vision for the future and the impact they continue to have in the community. 🛹

It’s inspiring to hear the ideas they have for creating more opportunities and positive spaces for youth across the Island. It also takes organizations like this — dedicated to researching funding avenues, putting in the work through applications, and advocating for their communities — to secure the support needed to turn those visions into reality.

Glad to have the opportunity to discuss some of the federal funding programs available and how we can help support that process.
