Barbara Elizabeth (Lind) Detcheverry, 70

Glace Bay, N.S.

Barbara Elizabeth (Lind) Detcheverry passed away on June 22, 2026, at age 70.

A long-time resident of Glace Bay, Barbara was known for her creativity and determination. A talented seamstress and doll maker in her day, she shared her gifts with many and took great pride in her craftsmanship.

Through media engagements and presentation programs in local schools, she contributed to raising awareness of both the capabilities and challenges faced by persons with disabilities, as part of initiatives helping to foster understanding, inclusion, and respect within the community.

Barbara was predeceased by her beloved husband, Kyte (Joseph Kyte Detcheverry); her parents, Raymond, and Jean (Roy) Lind; and her brother, David Lind.

She is survived by her son, Derreck Parsons, sister Rilla MacDougall; and by several friends who enjoyed her friendship and passion.

The family extends its sincere gratitude to the many wonderful people who offered care, support, and companionship throughout her life.

Cremation has taken place under the care and compassion of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, Glace Bay.

A graveside service is planned for Friday, July 17, 2026, at 10 a.m., in St. Anthony Cemetery, Glace Bay, N.S.

Shape Our Future: Diocesan Strategic Planning

The Diocese is developing a new five-year strategic plan, and we need your voice! As we enter this important season of discernment, we are exploring one central question: What future do we want to shape together for the Diocese, and what will it take to get there?

Cape Breton Regional Consultation Parishioners, lay leaders, and clergy are invited to an in-person gathering to reflect on day-to-day parish life and ensure our new strategic plan reflects local realities.

Date: Saturday, April 11, 2026
Who: Everyone is welcome. No special preparation or expertise is required—just your care for the future of the Church!
Why Attend? This is a space to imagine the future and name what we want to grow over the next five years. By attending, you will:

Help shape the priorities and direction of the Diocese.
Share your hopes and aspirations for parish life in Cape Breton.
Share ideas on how the Diocese can be more connected and supportive.
Discern together where God may be calling the Church next.
Your perspective is vital. Please join us in this hopeful, collaborative conversation!
