LOVE, THE ONE THING NEEDFUL

"Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal." 1 Corinthians 13: 1

In the first place, love clearly does not consist merely in great sacrifices. We can take no comfort to ourselves that we are God's own, merely on the ground of great deeds or great sufferings.

Self-denying alms-giving is no necessary evidence of love. "Though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and have not charity, it profits me nothing." 1 Corinthians 13:3

It is possible to obey, not from love towards God and man, but from a sort of conscientiousness short of love; from some notion of acting up to a law; that is, more from the fear of God than from love of Him.

Why are we so afraid of worldly events, or the opinions of men? Why do we so dread their censure or ridicule?—clearly because we are deficient in love.

He, who loves, cares little for anything else. The world may go as it will; he sees and hears it not, for his thoughts are drawn another way; he is solicitous mainly to walk with God, and to be found with God; and is in perfect peace because he is stayed in Him.

Venerable John Henry Cardinal Newman (1801-1890) was a convert to Catholicism from the Church of England, and one of the great minds of the 19th century. As a Roman Catholic priest he became one of the greatest Catholic apologists in the history of the Church. He was a prolific writer and persuasive preacher.

IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT!

Your past may be clouded. You may have been through a terrible ordeal. You may have trouble forgiving others or even yourself. You are not alone: many others are suffering for different other reasons.

IS IT POSSIBLE THAT YOU MAY BE HEALED PHYSICALLY OR MENTALLY?

“He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” 1 Peter 2:24. Peter healed in the name of Jesus about 2000 years ago and many Christian healers are doing the same today.

Do you suppose that one of the reasons that Christianity really took off was because of this spiritual Light? Did people see plenty of evidence of God’s mercy and God’s LIGHT?

BUILT TO FAIL

John Paul II was congratulated for the fall of Communism. He replied “Getting rid of that Mickey Mouse system was no miracle. It was a matter of time. It was built to fail.”

The Soviets had a large army, more nuclear weapons even than the United States, a ruthless police system and dictatorial state apparatus, compliant satellites in Eastern and Central Europe, outposts in Cuba, Africa, Asia, and Central America. And yet, all that was as dust, as time passed, and its incompatibility with human and divine things brought it down.

Schemes obviously built to fail will fail. Make no mistake about the ultimate outcome of this war. God will be victorious.

NEGATIVE ENERGIES
There is such a thing as demonic (negative energies for the layman) influence that manipulates us because we have allowed a small gap in our spiritual life. We are not talking about demons around every corner—only those which God has allowed to sway people for one reason or another. These reasons are varied: un-forgiveness, abuse, trauma (PTSD), ungodly or superstitious beliefs, capital sins, even generational disorders for which you are innocent, but came to you from your forefathers.

Some of the signs could be fear, depression, addictions, anger, lust or suicidal. Even physical health problems are a sign: the word, “dis-ease” suggests the stress involved in illness. If a disease can’t be cured, it is almost always an evil spirit that is causing it.

That is where the Light of God comes in: “Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness.”
Matthew 9:35

THE DEVIL HAS NO CHOICE

“At the name of Jesus every knee should bow … of those on earth, and of those under the earth.” Philippians 2:10

WHAT DOES “EVERY KNEE SHOULD BOW” ACTUALLY MEAN?

It means that any evil spirit, who is influencing a person, has to leave that person because of the command, “At the Name of Jesus Christ, I command the evil spirit of ___________________ to leave. This demon, which is identified by its function, has no choice but to leave that person.

Don’t be so quick to criticize unless you try this Prayer of Deliverance!

What is required is a devout Prayer of Deliverance (below) with a holy partner. You will absolutely know that there will be a physical and mental difference afterwards. That will be your proof of this prayer’s viability.

LIFE AFTER DEATH

There are common experiences shared by thousands of survivors clearly point to the God of the Bible and the exhilarating picture of heaven he promises. HERE IS AN INTERESTING STORY:

When seven-year-old Kristle Merzlock arrived at the hospital in the spring of 1982, she was in a coma after spending 20 minutes at the bottom of a swimming pool. Bill Longhurst, the lanky doctor who received Kristle in A&E, quickly summoned paediatric doctor Melvin Morse, the only doctor at the hospital who had performed a significant number of resuscitations. But even Morse, with all his experience was not prepared for what was about to happen.

Kristle’s pupils were fixed and dilated, Morse recalls, and she had no gag reflex. A CT scan showed massive swelling of her brain. A machine was doing her breathing and her blood pH was extremely acidic, a clear indication of imminent death. “There was little we could do at that point,” Morse says.

So when Kristle survived, emerging from her coma three days later at the hospital in Pocatello, Idaho, with full brain function, Morse was amazed. More extraordinary still, his world view was profoundly altered when Kristle recognised him. “That’s the one with the beard,” she told her mother. “First there was this tall doctor who didn’t have a beard and then he came in.” That was true. Morse sported a beard, while Dr Longhurst was clean-shaven. Kristle then described the casualty ward with astonishing accuracy. “She had the right equipment, the right number of people—everything was just as it had been that day,” Morse explains. She even correctly recited the procedures that had been performed on her.

“Even though her eyes had been closed and she had been profoundly comatose during the entire experience, she still ‘saw’ what was going on.”

I DID IT!

Jesus proclaimed that God wants you: to bring men and women to the Savior, to their Lord and King, to happiness and everlasting life. The effects of this cause are beautiful, happy, clean, good people.

In the end, you can say that you lived for something and that when you go to heaven, you can say, "I did it! I did it! And it was fun!"

BUT I CAN'T SEE GOD…

Tell me how to find Him.

God is here. We can find Him. But we cannot get rid of Him.

In reality we all believe that God exists, but we simply don't want to have to bother with Him. We just copy everyone else: we leave the question of God unanswered. We do not deny the existence of God, but we do not want to be bothered with Him.

It's a very alarming fact that people today don't take the matter of salvation a bit seriously. We are suffering from a lack of God. We do not deny His existence, but we have no relationship with Him. We don't want to have anything to do with Him and that is why we are suffering from a lack of God.
In reality, if you do not resolve the important question of life, you will suffer deep mental and emotional disturbance.

DO YOU EVER PRAY?
It is a terrible thing for a father if his son hasn't spoken to him for years. And if a man does not pray, then he does not speak with his heavenly Father. Yes, God would like us to be His children: children who speak with Him, who love Him and whom he can love.

YOUR VOCATION: THE APPRENTICE-COOK ILLUSTRATION
Here is a rather simple illustration. Try to picture an apprentice-cook. One day I hear the head cook say, "That boy is not at all interested in cooking!" So I ask, "Well, what is he interested in then?" He answers, "In pop music and girls!" "You should bring yourself down to his level," I say, "and from now on talk to him only about pop music and girls!" "Not on your life!" retorts the chef. "If that boy isn't interested in cooking, then he has missed his vocation." Can you see the point I want to make?

Our vocation is to become children of God. When modern man shows no interest in this, then he has missed his vocation as a man. Under these circumstances it is useless to discuss all kinds of possible or impossible things with him, even if the subject interests him. He must be told over and over again: "You will begin to be a real person only when you have become a child of the living God."

LIFE ETERNAL
Something deep in our being knows that life here on this planet is short. If that is the case, are we eternal!?!

“And this is the will of Him that sent Me, that every one which see the Son, and believe on Him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise Him up at the last day.” John 6:40 Are we not talking about eternity?

STRETCHING OUT YOUR HAND TO HEAL

“As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world.”
John 17:18

“Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.”
1 Corinthians12:27

Each part of the body performs it own distinct function, which makes it indispensable and wholly dependent on every other part. In the same way, the whole ministry of the Church is only the sum total of all its members. The clergy have a special role of leadership, but other believers are equally joined in the Church. This interdependence means that we need to be sensitive to part which each one of us has to play. That means that you will not be only doing your own thing.

“All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and He distributes them to each one, just as He determines.” 1 Corinthians 12:11

HEALING AND SUFFERING
It is often said that there is value in suffering. So some people will immediately conclude that suffering may be God’s will. Nowhere in the Bible does it indicate that suffering is beneficial. Nowhere did it limit the availability of healing in response to faith.

In the Bible, sickness is sickness and it is not described as suffering. The meaning of suffering occurred only for being Christian (persecution) and not from being sick. It is clear in the Bible, sickness is to be healed!

WHERE THERE IS NO VISION...
The conversions today are nothing compared to that experienced in the early church. The difference is that the early Christians prayed with complete conviction that healing would happen because of their faith.

The healing gifts may not be as common today but what is the real explanation? It may be that the body of the Church as a whole does not really believe in them. It is not enough that a tiny minority in the Church can make a difference.

Healing is not an end on to itself. More Christians enter into deep spiritual life as a result of healing than in any other way. In this respect, the healing ministry never fails. Even those who suffer from terminal cancer are given prolonged life. This allows this person to draw closer to Jesus. It is our faith that needs to grow, and the healing grows in proportion to faith.

Evangelism and healing go hand in hand. The ultimate reason why Jesus healed was to extend the kingdom of God.

Every Christian can share in the healing ministry, but some Christians have a special calling to that work.

It is essential that we draw upon the Holy Spirit for healing. The healing minister is changed from powerless to “power-full” through the power of the Holy Spirit.

If you are faced with the need of someone to be healed, preaching a good sermon will not make the slightest difference.

There is not one word in the New Testament to say or suggest that healing was to be withdrawn. The only requirement was the prayer of faith.

The practice of medicine and the practice of healing through faith have exactly the same intentions and stem from the same understanding of God’s will. God has given us life and we have a right and duty to preserve it for as long as God permits it to remain.

Vicarious healing or healing by intersession is effective when it complements the faith of the sick person. Conversely, unbelief in those being ministered can render impotent even perfect faith of those praying for them.

HEALING
There are those who have been given the gift of healing in you Christian community. They may not even know that they have such a gift. They must have a total faith in what they are about to do.

Have them pray for you healing with the words found in Isaiah and 2Peter: “By Your stripes (whippings), Lord Jesus, and in the Name of Jesus Christ, may ___________ be healed of _______________.

Optional: May all the tissues and cells be renewed as new, before any problem existed.

AFTER THE HEALING PRAYER

The healer, par excellence, was Saint (Brother) Andre, who used healing to help Jesus build the St. Joseph Offertory in Montreal; he said: "There would be far more healing if people 'prayed upon' would have MORE FAITH."

God desires praise and thanksgiving: every day the healed person* must give thanks and praise in his or her heart (with conviction) until the healing is manifested: LORD JESUS, I PRAISE YOU AND I THANK YOU FOR YOUR HEALING. Say this faith prayer every time there is a symptom of pain that returns.

God is more interested in one's spiritual healing: He loves everyone and wants everyone to go to heaven.

The healed person must soak himself or herself in God's Love: every evening the healed person must read several verses where Jesus speaks in the Gospel of John after the third chapter and read the same verses in the evening. This reading must be in a form of prayer: when Jesus says, “I am the Light", the healed person must pray, "You are the Light, Jesus!" -- From the heart.

* The healed person means exactly what it says: the healing has already been done in heaven.

THE POTENTIAL TO TURN A LIFE AROUND

How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good. (Acts 10:38)

Everyone craves encouragement. I believe that God wants to encourage people, but a lot of times He needs us to do it.

We have what others need. We have God’s love, which is powerful! We have the Spirit of love and the words of love!

Our life can be influential because of the power of our words. These words don’t need to be profound or eloquent, just simple words that meet a person’s need for love, hope, significance, or comfort. If you feel like you have no time, no energy, no expertise, no money, or little to give, don’t worry; that’s common to many of us.

But we can all give through our words of encouragement, through which our lives can have influence, and we can spread God’s love wherever we go. I like to look at opportunities to encourage people as part of my “going around doing good” for my fellow travelers through life, like Jesus did.

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. (Leo Buscaglia)

APPLY THE WORD FOR HEALING

Knowing the word is not enough: you must act on the word. For example, you can apply the Word for healing: "Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering ... the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed." Isaiah 53:4-5 Meditate on the words "By whose stripes you were healed" 1Peter 2:24 Through the Word you can know without doubt that it is God's unchanging will for you to be healed. Dwell on God's Word so that you are able to do God's Word.

So God can heal, but will He heal? God's love and mercy is clearly emphasized in His Word. "The LORD is gracious and compassionate; slow to anger and rich in love". Psalm 145:8 Remember how many times Jesus was moved by compassion toward us: He yearns to meet the needs of man. It is against the will of God for you to be sick. Decide to be well: to get results you must believe that you receive your healing when you pray -- not after you are well. Once healed, one continues still to take God's medicine daily.

From the healer's point of view, the healing power is available to anyone who is of God and who would receive it. Healing brings glory to God: "the people glorified God when they saw the lame could walk and the blind could see." Matthew 15:31

Another example involves deliverance. Jesus came to do God's will in the earth. His will was for Jesus to destroy the works of the devil. So Jesus broke the yoke of Satan's oppression wherever He found it.
Jesus has authority over the devil: He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved ... In My name they will drive out demons...they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well." Mark 16:15,18 We don't ask God to deal with the devil for us: He instructs you to drive out the demons. It is up to you to enforce this authority in your life in the name of Jesus or "in Christ".

THE FAITH OF A CANAANITE WOMAN

21 Leaving that place, Jesus withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon. 22 A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is demon-possessed and suffering terribly.” 23 Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciples came to him and urged him, “Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us.” 24 He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel.” 25 The woman came and knelt before him. “Lord, help me!” she said. 26 He replied, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs.” 27 “Yes it is, Lord,” she said. “Even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table.” 28 Then Jesus said to her, “Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted.” And her daughter was healed at that moment.

JESUS HEALS A DEMON-POSSESSED BOY

14And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying, 15Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatic, and sore vexed: for oft times he falls into the fire, and oft into the water. 16And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him. 17Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I suffer you? Bring him hither to me. 18And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour. 19Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said. Why could not we cast him out? 20And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you. If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. 21Howbeit this kind goes not out but by prayer and fasting. The message here is that everything depends on faith, which the apostles lacked at that time.
