The teenager stood her ground. While her high school group was visiting a home for people in rehab from addictions, Claire engaged in conversation with a twentysomething man who towered over her in size. They talked about faith. Claire clearly presented the gospel of Jesus. He countered with his spi...

It used to be cameras, now it’s phones, but the moments of transition in our life are memorialized in snapshots. High school graduation means we will never again be a “kid.” The wedding means that I am no longer an “I” but rather part of an “us.” The birth of the first child means that...

Visiting Switzerland had been my dad’s lifelong dream. After his diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia, my mom decided to go with him while he was still physically able. “One day, with the snow blowing around us on Mount Titlis,” she says, “I saw the profound joy in your father’s face. It w...

Alongside Hope’s mapping exercise is coming to Fredericton! Join us at Cathedral Memorial Hall, Saturday 20 June, 1:30-4:00 p.m. 'Mapping The Ground We Stand On' is an impactful, interactive exercise to explore Indigenous history and settler relationships in Canada, and is an important reconciliation tool. It was created by Alongside Hope in response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s report.

The exercise uses a large floor map of Turtle Island/Canada to explore the intertwined stories of the presence of Indigenous peoples on their land and the arrival of settlers. Participants physically walk onto the map as they hear stories and reflect on historical events, and are called to consider their own place within the shared history.

It's an important reconciliation tool that will touch your heart while expanding your knowledge - well worth a couple of hours of your time!

The event is free, but please email diocesan rep Debbie Edwards to RSVP: .
