We recently completed the first program of meditation training in the Shambhala Dharma tradition. Where we explored and experienced the teachings on Basic Goodness, the resilience of our own mindfulness, and the potential for deep appreciation and joy to be an intentional part of our life.
Making friends with ourselves is an essential part of this path.

KYUDO WEEKEND, JUNE 27-28
Japanese Meditation Archery
All welcome. All equipment provided.

This program is open to both new participants and students who have previously received First Shot instruction.

You can register here: https://fredericton.shambhala.org/program-details/?id=866792

In our Heki ryu Bishu Chikurin ha tradition, hitting the target is not the primary goal. In this lineage, Kyudo is a form of mindfulness practice done standing. It is "meditation in action."

Our teacher Dale Hinchey, a student of Kanjuro Shibata XX Sendai, and his successor son, Shibata Kanjuro XXI, Sensei, introduces students to Kyudo in this way.

In this tradition, Kyudo is a form of meditation. Because it is a mindfulness practice which is done standing, and which involves movement, it is referred to as ‘meditation in action’, or ‘standing meditation’

New students will be introduced to the practice over two days in what is known as "First Shot." All equipment is provided by Senpai Hinchey.

The program fee is $100, but it's pay what you can, so everybody who wants to participate is included.

Last Saturday was the 1st class of The Art of Being Human. Sitting on cushions and chairs we start being with ourselves, just as we are. Beyond all of our habitual selves, there is something primordially good, our essence of being. This, is the path of discovery.

THE ART OF BEING HUMAN - MEDITATION PROGRAM
APRIL 25th - May 23rd
with Craig Schneider, Veit Weber, Leslie Jeffries and David Seabrook.

The Art of Being Human program provides a pathway where everyone can discover their own innate wisdom and compassion.

This is the first time in several years this unique meditation program has been offered in Fredericton. You can register by email at [email protected] or online directly at: ttps://fredericton.shambhala.org/program-details/?id=853990.

Program price: $75; or a $100 patron price that supports the Fredericton Shambhala Centre’s operations costs. However, this is a pay what you can program.

The program is an excellent introduction to meditation for newcomers and will be of interest to those who want to deepen and strengthen their practice and are curious about the Buddhist/ Shambhala teachings that inform this training. With two in-person events and four online sessions over a month-long period, the program provides participants a solid foundation in mindfulness-awareness meditation practice.

Traditionally, The Art of Being Human (Leve 1), is this is the first of five meditation training courses. With a non-sectarian approach, it is helpful to people of all faiths and backgrounds.

Through the practice of meditation, we begin to glimpse that goodness - rather than confusion - is the unconditional ground of our existence. Opening ourselves with gentleness and appreciation, we begin to see our potential as genuine and compassionate human beings.

This program will be co-led by senior teachers Veit Weber and Craig Schneider with longtime practitioners Leslie Jeffries and David Seabrook.

The course is divided into two 4-hour in-person sessions at the Fredericton Shambhala Centre, one at the beginning and one at the end of the program, and four 1-½ hour Zoom sessions, weekly on Thursdays, in between.
This flexibility is provided to adapt to our busy and demanding family/work schedules as well as provide ongoing weekly learning support.

Participants are encouraged to get the book, ‘Shambhala - The Sacred Path of the Warrior’, by Chogyam Trungpa, as we will be using that as a reading source to support the experiential learning. It is available online.

The program dates are:
April 25, 9:00am -1:00pm in person at the centre
April 30, Zoom class 7:00 - 8:30pm
May 7, Zoom class 7:00 - 8:30pm
May 14, Zoom class 7:00 - 8:30pm
May21, Zoom class 7:00 - 8:30pm
May 23 9:00 - 1:00 - in person at the centre
