No matter how strained our relationship with the United States may be at times - whether because of trade disagreements, political differences, or other disputes - we pause today to remember the attack on September 11. What happened that day changed the world and shattered the lives of thousands of people and their families. Whatever our disagreements, grief knows no borders, and the suffering of others calls us to compassion.

Let's pray:
God of mercy and peace, today we remember those whose lives were taken on September 11, and all those whose lives were forever changed.

We remember the families who continue to carry their grief, the first responders who ran toward danger, and all who have lived with the wounds of that day.

Hold close those who mourn, O God. Give comfort to those who still carry pain, and help us to remember not with hatred or fear, but with compassion and a renewed commitment to peace.

May the memory of those who died call us to cherish life, to resist division, and to seek a world where violence does not have the final word.

God of all people, teach us to see one another with compassion and to be people who build peace wherever we can.

Amen.

🌈 Mid-Week Moment: The Rainbow Is for Everyone

We all know the rainbow at the end of Noah’s story. 🌈

But what if we’ve been missing part of what it means?

God’s covenant isn’t made only with Noah. It reaches out to every living creature and the earth itself. The promise is bigger than we sometimes imagine.

This week’s Mid-Week Moment invites us to think about what it means to widen our own circles of care, and to remember that God’s love has always been bigger than just us.

The promise is for us. But it was never only for us.

👉 Read this week’s reflection and take a few moments to consider where you might widen your circle of care.

🐶 Dogs of Nashwaaksis United Church 🐶
The phrase "all God's creatures have a place in the choir," takes on a very real meaning at NUC!

I'd like to introduce you to Tango and Taco, both a welcome presence in the choir at our church.

A reminder that there is room for all in the circle of God's Love!

Sacred Rhythms: Becoming People of the Rainbow
In the story of Noah, the rainbow is a sign of God’s covenant - a promise of grace, peace, and a future beyond the storm.

But what if it’s also an invitation?

This week’s Sacred Rhythms practice invites us to look for small opportunities to bring a little more grace, kindness, compassion, and peace into the world around us.

How will you embody the rainbow covenant today?

Mid-Week Moment: The Stories That Shape Us 📖
We are all shaped by stories: the stories our families tell,he stories of those who came before us, and the sacred stories of faith that have been carried from one generation to the next.

This week's Mid-Week Moment reflects on the road to Emmaus and Deuteronomy's call to keep telling the story, and asks what it means for us to recognize that our own stories are part of something much larger.

Who helped pass the story of faith on to you? And what part of that story might you carry forward? 🌿

Sacred Rhythms: Looking for God Along the Way
What if we don't always need to find God? What if we just need to slow down enough to notice that God is already walking with us?

This week's Sacred Rhythms invites you to take an ordinary walk and turn it into a spiritual practice. Leave the headphones behind, pay attention to what surrounds you, and ask:

“Where might Christ be walking with me today?”

You might be surprised by what you notice along the way.

Mid-Week Moment: Whole and Welcome 🌈💛
What if faith doesn't ask us to leave parts of ourselves at the door?

Our identities matter. Our stories matter. And in Galatians 3, Paul reminds us that none of the things that make us different can place us outside God's love or the belonging we share in Christ.

This week's Mid-Week Moment reflects on what it means to bring our whole selves into God's presence - and to become a community where others can do the same.

Because there is a difference between being welcomed through the door and knowing that you truly belong. 🌿
