Worship Service: Sunday 10:30am-11:30am
(Sunday School is held during this time)

St. Paul’s United Church is a historic downtown church which values its solid Biblical foundation, emphasizing a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Friendship, fellowship and faith are also high priorities at St. Paul’s. We are a church which has been uniquely positioned with a beautiful sanctuary, a dedicated

ministry staff, a commitment to lay ministry and lay involvement, and a great attitude and atmosphere where people can feel welcome, spiritually challenged and encouraged. There is a growing focus to reach those beyond our doors with the good news of God’s Word and His plan for each and every one of us, to touch the hearts and lives of people in our community and abroad. Paul’s is truly a place for you and your family.

Wishing all our students a wonderful school year! 🍎✏️📚

Loving God,
parent and companion to us all,
hold the precious children and young people in your loving care
as they begin a new school year.

Nurture in them a sense of wonder.
Keep their curiosity alive,
their imaginations wide,
and their hearts open to the joy of discovering something new.

May the spark of creativity, possibility, and adventure
continue to burn brightly within them.
Give them courage to ask questions,
freedom to dream,
and confidence to become who they are meant to be.

Surround them with people who see their worth
and meet them with kindness, patience, and respect.
Protect them from harm,
from cruelty and fear,
and from words and ideas that diminish the dignity of others.

And may they be a source of kindness, courage, and welcome to those around them.

Bless them as they learn and grow,
as they make friends, face challenges,
discover their gifts, and find their own light.

May they shine in the ways that are uniquely theirs—
and may every child be surrounded by the love, care,
and hope they need to flourish.

Amen

Some invitations carry more weight than others💌
This Pride Week, I'm incredibly honoured that I have been invited by Wilmot United Church to read in drag a lovely story📚. It's an opportunity I'm genuinely excited about—but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't also a little hesitant.
Churches have been responsible for some of the deepest hurt I've experienced. That pain doesn't simply disappear. But healing doesn't happen by standing still either.
I've learned that churches, much like people or snowflakes, no two alike. They're shaped by the people who lead them and the communities that choose compassion over exclusion. While I remain mindful of the harm blind faith can cause in the wrong hands, I'm equally aware that healing requires action—and sometimes that action is accepting an invitation that once would have felt impossible.🫂✨
So here's to leadership willing to build something different. Here's to those creating spaces where everyone is seen, respected, and welcomed. And here's another step in my own healing journey.
I'm grateful for the invitation, and I hope those who walk through those doors will recognize the power of what this moment represents. ❤️🏳️‍🌈
Can't wait to share space with Normand W Hector as well. A friend in a sacred space.

Wishing you a safe, healthy, and very Happy Canada Day! 🇨🇦

Happy Canada Day! Today we give thanks for this land, for the people who call it home, and for the many communities that make up our nation. We pray that, together, we may become the people God calls us to be—doing justice, loving mercy, and walking humbly with God.

God of the Rainbow,
More than those who watch for morning,
Our souls wait, for the day when each of us,
of every gender expression, gender identity, and sexual orientation
knows that we are meant to be:
loved, cherished, and protected; and
that we are to be:
proud of our identities; and
celebrated.

For we are your imperfectly perfect children,
called to reflect Christ’s radiant light,
embody Christ’s radical love; and
build your beloved community,
especially when storms of fear and hatred rage around us.

And so, more than those who watch for morning,
we, in our great diversity,
wait for your promised rainbow of peace,
as we work towards a world where every gender expression, gender identity, and sexual orientation is affirmed as beloved; and,
every soul’s spirit is able to sparkle, shine and sing your dream with pride.

May it be so,

Amen.

—Rev. Dr. Alydia Smith

🔥Yesterday we celebrated Pentecost Sunday. This special day in the church calendar marks the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the disciples, empowering them to share God’s love and message with the world. It is often called the “birthday of the Church,” and reminds us that through the Holy Spirit we are strengthened, united, and called to live out our faith with courage and compassion. ❤️
Our beautiful Pentecost art piece by Ralph Simpson is now back on display as a lovely visual reminder of this special season in the church.
Join us for worship in person or online, Sundays at 10:30AM.
