Cemetery Newsletter Spring 2023
Dear Plot Owners and/or Families,
On-going Cemetery Maintenance: The Board appreciates the work of the Jones family members who have done so much work to maintain the cemetery. The Jones family has performed the bulk of the 2022 Spring cleanup. THANKS SO MUCH!! The 2023 Spring cleanup is scheduled for Tuesday, May 9th at 6:30pm, with a rain date of Wednesday, May 10th at 6:30pm. If you are able, please come, bringing your rakes, etc and help us make our cemetery look as lovely as possible.
Memorial Arch Plaques: Please see the Donation form on the reverse for more information.
Cremation Plots: We have reserved an area for 50 smaller (4.5 ft x 5 ft) cremation plots which will accommodate the remains of up to two individuals. The cost of these plots is $500. Flat, ground-level headstones only, may be placed on these graves. Please contact Steve Jones at 472-5110, if you or anyone you know may be interested.
Perpetual Care / Donations: Dayton Cemetery Inc. does not as yet have sufficient funds to provide perpetual care. As of year-end 2021, we have $145,000 in our fund, with still a distance to go to reach our goal of $200,000. All donations - whether large or small - are much appreciated. Official income tax receipts are provided. Donations contribute to our bottom line and to the annual amount we can put towards our perpetual care fund. The donation form can be completed and sent, along with your donation, to the address below. In an effort to keep our costs down, we have printed the donation form on the back of this page.
Donations at Funeral Homes: Donations to Dayton Cemetery, in memory of a friend or loved one, can be made at any local funeral home. Funeral homes will accept cash or cheque donations. Please keep our organization in your minds when making memorial donations.
Annual Meeting: The 2022 Annual Meeting was held on October 27th. After many years as President, and many, many more years as a Board member, Don Hatheway stepped away from the position of President. We all say a hearty “Thank-you” to Don for his years of service to Dayton Cemetery. Don will remain on the Board as Vice-President and we will continue to benefit from his knowledge. Gary Hallett was voted in as our new President.
Recruiting New Board Members!!!! We are looking for people who might have an interest in serving on our Board of Directors. Please consider volunteering. Service is not a burdensome task…attending one or two meetings per year plus the Annual Meeting. You may bring new perspectives / ideas to the Board discussions. If you are interested, please contact our new President, Gary Hallett at 506-470-0440. The Board appreciates your continued interest and support.
