At the Skaro Pilgrimage, ArchbishopStephen Hero reflects on the meaning of the Assumption and the example Mary gives to us.

Through her faithful “yes” to God, Mary welcomed Christ, carried Him to others and remained faithful throughout her life. Her example invites us to consider how we, too, can say “yes” to God and bring Christ into the world through our faith, love and service.

May Mary, assumed body and soul into heaven, remind us of the hope that awaits all who place their trust in Christ.

In his homily for the Vigil of the Assumption at the Skaro Pilgrimage, Archbishop Stephen Hero reflects on Mary as the Ark of the New Covenant — the one who welcomed Christ into her heart and womb and faithfully followed Him throughout her life.

Mary shows us what it means to say “yes” to God, to persevere in faith, and to carry Christ to others through our love, example, and service. As we celebrate her Assumption, may we remember that God’s plan and hope is also for us: to share in the life of the Risen Christ.

Thank you to the community of Skaro and the people who continue to support and prepare for this pilgrimage. Grateful to Catholic Archdiocese of Edmonton Archbishop Stephen Hero and our diocesan priests and deacons who celebrated Mass tonight. Join tomorrow morning at 10 am for healing Mass at the Grotto again.

Due to recent heavy rainfall, there is standing water on parts of the Skaro Shrine grounds, resulting in limited parking and outdoor seating. Pilgrims are kindly asked to travel by bus where available or carpool whenever possible. Please come prepared for the weather by bringing rain gear, waterproof footwear, and mosquito repellent. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. We look forward to welcoming you for a grace-filled pilgrimage.
