For twenty-six years, my story existed in government files.
This Friday, you'll hear it from the only person who lived it.
A Childhood On Record is the true story of a child who survived years in the child welfare system... a young man who later descended into addiction, searched for answers in places that only led him further into darkness, and somehow found a way back.
This isn't a sermon.
It isn't a motivational speech.
It's a true story.
A story about what trauma looks like behind closed doors. A story about what addiction actually feels like. A story about resilience, identity, purpose, and the fight to change a system that still impacts thousands of children today.
Some parts of this evening will be difficult to hear.
Others may change the way you see people for the rest of your life.
If you've ever wondered how someone survives unimaginable circumstances... If you've ever questioned whether people can truly change... Or if you simply believe every child deserves to be heard...
