Christ Church, Fort Macleod Our goal is to become closer to God, to each other, and to the wider community

Today is Trinity Sunday, when the Church gives thanks for the mystery of the one God as three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

As we worship the Holy Trinity, we remember that the mission of the Church flows from the life of the triune God.

In the Gospel, the risen Christ sends his disciples to make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Scripture reading: Matthew 28:18–20

‘And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”’

Prayer

Holy Trinity,
Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
draw us more deeply into your life of love.
Shape us as people of communion,
sent to witness to your grace among all nations.
Guide your Church in faith, hope and love,
and help us to trust the promise of Christ,
who is with us always.

Amen.

Dear Friends,

We warmly invite you to join us this Sunday (tomorrow) for the Holy Eucharist, celebrated according to the Canadian Book of Common Prayer.

To come to a BCP Eucharist is to step into something that feels, in the best possible way, outside of time. The service moves with a grave and tender logic that has formed Anglican Christians for generations: the Kyrie, the Collect, the Epistle and Gospel, the Creed spoken together as one voice, and then that great hush before the Canon of the Mass — the Prayer of Consecration — where the whole drama of salvation is held in a few ancient, luminous words. *This is my Body. This is my Blood.* The BCP does not rush past these words. It lets them stand.

The theology of the Canadian Prayer Book Eucharist is quietly extraordinary. It holds together things that are so easily pulled apart: the sacrifice of the Cross and the feast of the Kingdom, the unworthiness of the sinner and the boundless generosity of God, the individual soul kneeling at the rail and the whole communion of saints gathered around one Table. The Prayer of Humble Access — "We do not presume to come to this thy Table, O merciful Lord, trusting in our own righteousness" — is one of the most honest and beautiful prayers in the English language. It strips away every pretension and leaves us exactly where we ought to be: recipients of a grace we could never have earned.

And then, having received, the liturgy does not simply end. It sends. The Post-Communion prayer asks that we who have been fed might "do all such good works" as God has prepared for us — a reminder that the Eucharist is not an escape from the world, but the source of all true engagement with it.

This is ancient worship, offered with reverence and love. Whether you are coming home to the Prayer Book tradition or encountering it for the first time, we believe you will find here something genuinely rare: a liturgy that is both beautiful and true, both humble and full of glory.

We gather this Sunday at 10:30, at Christ Church.

All are welcome at the foot of the Cross.
