Restoration Project - Knox Elora

This is a "bird's eye" view of our new roof. Thank-you to Classic Roofing for a job well done! This completes Phase II of our Restoration Project at Knox-Elora. Watch for fundraising events in the near future to help raise funds for Phase III - replacement of the outside cladding on the Steeple. The galvanized steel currently covering the Steeple desperately needs to be replaced as it has been on there since 1873. Once replaced, it will match the colour of the roof.

This past Saturday (Dec 19th) was the last day for Photos with Santa and the weather was perfect. Thanks to all who came out and supported this fundraiser for the Knox-Elora Steeple Fund. Over $1,000 was raised. Thanks to each of you and a special thanks to Steve Truchan who organized and hosted this event! He even had "his" photo taken with Santa! Thanks Steve! Merry Christmas everyone!

August 19, 2020 - Day 3 .... and "it's a wrap". The Copperworks team finished the repair work on the steeple today. Weather was great so they were able to work right through. What an awesome team. I tried to get a photo of the crane operator in his cab (didn't get his name) but the windows prevented me from seeing him properly. I posted the pic anyhow! He was awesome too! He's so accurate moving that bucket on the crane ..... it was impressive to see. Thank-you team Copperworks ..... specifically, John & Sean and Lee Gray, owner and the crane operator from Modern Cranes in Mississauga.

August 18, 2020 - Day 2 of Steeple repairs. There was a brief shower at noon hour, but the weather cleared and John & Sean's work on the steeple resumed. Back tomorrow (Wednesday) to complete the job. Two more sides to do.

August 17, 2020 - Today, the team from Copperworks arrived with a crane and began repair work on the outside of Knox's Steeple to stop the leaking. John and Sean worked diligently all morning and into the afternoon .... until a sudden thunderstorm decided to roll in. They'll be back tomorrow and will continue until the job is complete. Check out the photos below ...... by the way, the steeple is 155 feet high.

August 2, 2020 - Steeple Update:
The next phase of repairs to the outside of Knox-Elora's Steeple, that were postponed in the spring due to Covid-19 restrictions, have now been rescheduled for the week of August 17-21, 2020 .... weather permitting. Our sincere thanks to our church members and the community at large, for your continued support during these uncertain times. It's because of you, that we are able to continue this much needed work at Knox-Elora. Thank-you! Stay safe, stay well!

June 24, 2020 - An update regarding our Steeple ...... We had set a start date in early April to begin the next phase of repairs to the outside of our Steeple. Unfortunately, COVID-19 had other ideas, with a state of emergency being declared, and all businesses not deemed "necessary" required to close. (churches included) Knox is still closed and will be until at least September 2020. So, while we ride out this pandemic, the repairs have been "postponed" and will resume when it is safe and feasible to so.
