In 2001 St. Teresa Parish celebrated 150 years as a Parish community.

It began as a small country Parish in North Woolwich in 1851, moved to a larger church on Water Street in Elmira in 1889, purchased a rectory, and was able to have a resident Priest by 1924. Always an active community, St. Teresa Parish in the 1930's and 1940's not only held religious services, pious societies and offered religious education for children, it also hosted social and athletic activities, such as the Garden Parties, bingo, Holy Name Hockey, and boxing matches in the church basement. The 1950's and 1960's saw the beginning of the Catholic Women's League and the Holy Name Society for men. The changes brought by the Second Vatican Council were experienced throughout the 1970's and 1980's, as the community participated in RENEW and lay people assumed new liturgical roles. In 1992 the Parish moved its place of worship. The beautiful, modern church of St. Teresa on Flamingo Drive accommodates up to 490 people when the folding wall connecting the library is open. The decision to build a new church was difficult, and fraught with heartache. Many families felt they were abandoning a "home" their forebears had sacrificed to achieve. Nevertheless, through prayer, hard work, and cooperation, the new building has become home to the living faith community that is St. Teresa Parish today.

Congratulations to our newly elected Knights of Columbus Executive! God bless you and the good works you do.

After a wonderful installation ceremony on September 12th following the 5pm Mass, heartfelt congratulations go out to our newly installed executive team. May you be blessed with strength, wisdom, and continued success as you step into this important role.

A particularly meaningful touch this year was having the wives present the jewel of office around their husbands’ necks as they were officially installed. It added a beautiful sense of family, unity, and shared commitment to the occasion. 👩🏻👨🏻

A sincere thank you as well to our non‑executive members who supported the group by being present and witnessing the ceremony. Your encouragement and solidarity mean so much and truly enrich our council. 🛡️

Following the 5:00 PM Mass on Saturday, September 12th, all parishioners, families, and friends are invited to stay for the Installation of Officers Ceremony. ✝️⛪🛡️
This solemn and meaningful ritual marks the beginning of a new fraternal year and recognizes and blesses the men who will serve our council in the coming year.👨🏻👨🏻‍🦰👨🏼‍🦳👴🏼

Bottle & Can Fundraiser! You will be hearing about several events we will be having in order to raise much needed money for our Parish. Even small things like this make a difference and everyone can participate! Simply bring in your alcohol empties (or your relative's or even your neighbour's empties) and there will be a drive thru drop off by the hall entrance AFTER the 5 PM Sat or 9 AM Sun weekend Masses in Sept & Oct! Clear plastic bags are available in the Narthex or at the drive thru for your cans. Cans need to be counted and write the number of cans on the bag. See the flyer for the full list of returnable items! If you prefer to take your empties directly to the beer store and donate the cash earned, you can drop off your cash donation at the drive thru as well! Thank you for your support!
