When faced with the daunting task of rebuilding the fallen city walls, Nehemiah did not fear his enemies, nor did he collapse under pressure from skeptics. The Lord had given him a task and he was bound to complete it no matter what obstacles stood his way. What was the source of his confidence? Nehemiah’s foundation of faith was firmly established upon the God of promise. Not only was he able to move forward with confidence, he was also able to encourage others to trust in the source of his strength.(Nehemiah 2:18-19)

No matter what happens in the physical world around us, God is in control. He is able to work all things including our failures into His plan for our good. If you are discouraged today, use Nehemiah’s words in (Nehemiah 1:4-11)to create your own prayer to God. Give Him praise, confess any sin in your life, acknowledge the authenticity of His word, and request His favour as you get up and try again. The Lord is faithful in all things. Don’t let discouragement block your view of His awesome love and power.

As an aid to remember the tremendous work Christ has done and is continuing to do, make a list of transformations that you noticed in your heart and behaviour. Then pause to give thanks for each one, and ask the Lord for an opportunity to share with someone who needs to hear exactly what changes Christ has made in your life. Your testimony is a powerful tool to bring someone’s heart to Christ who transformed you. (Acts 22:3-21)

Our best move is to quiet our busy souls and allow God to speak. He has so much to say to us. He has something to say about everything that touches your life. Wouldn’t you want to hear from Him? (Isaiah 30:15). “For thus said the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, “In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength.”

“Who among you fears the Lord and obeys the voice of his servant? Let him who walks in darkness and has no light trust in the name of the Lord and rely on his God.”(Isaiah‬ ‭50‬:‭10‬ ‭). God wants you to depend on Him. Not just for the big things but for the every day trials as well. We must lay down our rights and allow God to be our very life.
