“In the dark, we have to trust what we cannot see, and that is where new life begins...”
New beginnings can be challenging, especially when they require us to be vulnerable. In this week’s gospel, we’ll hear how a man named Nicodemus seeks out Jesus in the darkness of night, perhaps so that he can ask questions about faith that feel too tender and personal to ask in front of an audience. We’ll learn how these questions that come from the least defensive place, or the most vulnerable place in us are often the best questions — indeed, they are THE questions that draw us most tenderly into relationship with God. Our doubts, wonderments, and questions are all part of a life of faith, and are welcome companions in our pilgrimage with God. May you walk in the grace and beauty of this honest, human, and God-loved faith this week.
