May 17 is International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia. Join us today in support of the non-negotiable truth of every person’s dignity.

Creator, we come to you with both the joys and the sorrows of our hearts.
We are grateful for the gift of life and the joy that it can bring.
For families and friends who love us.
For allies who stick up for us, even when we cannot risk sticking up for ourselves.
For the great diversity you have created in our world.
We pray for those who suffer from discrimination because of their gender identity or sexual orientation.
Who worry about their employment or who cannot find a job.
For those who must hide who they are to find housing.
For those who are not safe on our streets.
For those who do not feel safe in their place of worship.
Help us to end homophobia, transphobia, and biphobia, and all forms of discrimination and hate.
Show us the way to make this world a better place for all.

Join us on Good Friday at 7:00 p.m. for a powerful look at an ancient ex*****on and how it shaped the world.
The Beam: a deeply reflexive and interactive service that invites us to spend time with this dark moment in our faith story. Filled with words, music and symbols, it reminds us of the power of Empire and the cost of Jesus' bold discipleship and daring justice.

From the Northern Spirit Regional Affirm Committee

We are deeply saddened by the tragedy that unfolded in Tumbler Ridge BC. People's lives have been irrevocably changed. The community has been irrevocably changed. It is hard for hearts and minds to grapple with the shock and pain. Be gentle with yourself and others.

But there is a message that needs to be heard in the midst of all of the noise. People need to understand and need to learn about and lean into is an understanding of the fragile mental health of trans people. And it's because of the struggle of being unable to let one's identity unfold in supportive and safe environments. It is because of the relentless harm they experience their whole lives. It is an outcome of long term familial, social and institutional exclusion and discrimination.

Light a candle for love. The candle for peace. And light a third for hope because perhaps with a different experience outcomes can be different.
