We want to share the following opportunity this Saturday, April 11th at 2:30pm, to screen the new film, The Forbidden University, at Metro Cinema in Edmonton, AB.

As the tumultuous situation in Iran populates media headlines and conversations around the world and people of differing backgrounds grapple with how to make sense of the reality in Iran, this film offers concrete accounts and stories of one aspect of the Iranian Regime’s actions towards one of its country’s largest minorities.

Further, the resilience, ingenuity and persistence exemplified by the Baha’is in Iran in striving to obtain education in the face of oppression and injustice, and the many successes that have been achieved, provide a balm of hope - an increasingly valuable power amongst a world facing greater and greater multitudes of injustices each day.

YEG Baha'is and friends! On March 23rd at 4 pm, Roger and Marie Gervais are hosting author Joan Young, a southern Alberta Baha'i who wrote a beautiful historical book of the stories of all the early Indigenous and non-Indigenous Baha'i friendships in Southern Alberta through the eyes of her own friendships in the cathedral of the plains. Joan will read excerpts from her book, tell stories and keep us informed, moved and entertained with these historical vignettes. Please RSVP, since this will be followed by a potluck supper. Can you come?

Our fireside talk last Saturday was a big hit. The audience loved the music and dance thanks to Roshan Daniel Karene Gervais Rémy, Vaishali Jadhav and Angelika! They must have had insights from Marie Gervais' talk about solidarity in diversity since the entire audience stayed 90 minutes after the talk to get into more conversations together. I am sure the interactive activities during the talk helped with people feeling comfortable to interact with each other afterwards. Thanks to Roger Gervais for taking care of the sound system! All in all a very successful event💐

The Edmonton Interfaith Centre is celebrating World Interfaith Harmony Week this week. The first of their events is an interfaith concert tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon at 2pm, which includes Edmonton Baha’i Community’s Roya Yazdanmehr and Roshan Gervais.
