“Yet” is a tiny but powerful word, and our children should definitely be using it more in their vocabulary.
Listen to the difference between:
“I can’t read well” and “I can’t read well – yet.”
“I don’t know” and “I don’t know – yet.”
“I’m not good at this” and “I’m not good at this – yet.”
“It doesn’t make sense” and “It doesn’t make sense – yet.”
Did you see how adding the word, “yet”, at the end of a sentence changes everything? How it empowers? How it invites new opportunities?
Saying “yet” changes how our children think, feel, and react to challenges. Today, show your children the amazing difference one little word can make!

"In the beginning was the heavens and the earth...And God saw that it was good." (Gen. 1:1, 25)

Cockroaches are everywhere you don't want them to be. They've even shown up on spacecrafts! They eat everything (leather, soap, paint, glue, toothpaste, spinach, and worse). In a pinch, they'll turn on each other and chow down. They are noisemakers. The Madagascar hissing cockroach forces air out of its breathing holes and makes a hissing squeak that drives its enemies crazy.

Since cockroaches (and siblings) aren't going away, guess we'll have to learn to live with them.

1 John 2:9 says, "Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates his brother is still in the darkness."

God could have given you any brother or sister in the world. Instead, you got this exact family. These are the people God chose for you to learn from.

Pray for one another. Treat family members with at least as much respect and kindness as you treat your friends. Work at your relationship with each individual member of your family. Family is for life!

The universe has no end. Our sun is too bright to look at, but Sirius, the brightest star we see at night, gives out 26 times more light than the sun.

The earth weighs 6,588,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 tons and gains a few tons every day from meteor dust settling on the earths surface. Millions of tons of snow fall each year. Each flake begins as a speck of dust surrounded by water. It changes shape as it collides with other snowflakes. It's true--not two snowflakes are alike!

Today, look around at your surroundings and see the handiwork of God! Praise him!

"Praise him, sun and moon, praise him, all you shining stars...Praise the Lord from the earth, you great sea creatures...you mountains and hills...wild animals...small creatures...you man and maidens, old men and children. Praise the Lord." Psalm 148

In the Middle Ages, guilt was often determined by tests. If the accused gave in during the test, his guilt was considered proven. In a trial by water, the suspected guilty party was thrown, hands and feet bound, into the river. If he sank, he was innocent. But if he floated he was guilty. To us, the verdicts seems turned around. But water was a symbol of purity in the medieval world. People believed that those who floated were being rejected by the water. If the water didn't reject the person, he would sink into it--innocent and free from guilt (also dead from drowning).

Most of us feel guilty because we are guilty. We fall short of God's standards for us, sinning in acts and thoughts every day. Be even though we are guilty before God, we don't have to stay that way! God offers us forgiveness because Jesus has already paid for our sins. We can confess our sins to God and experience forgiveness.

"He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west." Psalms 103:12
