We are pleased to invite you to join us for Meditation and Muffins on June 21, 2026 for a gentle morning gathering offered at Gaden Samten Ling. This community event provides an opportunity to come together in shared practice, reflection, and connection.

Meditation and Muffins is a relaxed and welcoming event designed to support both individual practice and community connection. Whether you are new to meditation, feeling curious, or a familiar face within our sangha, all are warmly welcome.

What to Expect:

🙏 Meditation and Prayers
We will begin the morning with a gentle meditation and recitation of prayers, offering space to settle the mind, soften the heart, and reconnect with presence. This practice provides a calm and grounded way to begin the day and nurture mindfulness in daily life.

☕️ Muffins, Coffee and Tea
Following meditation, participants are invited to enjoy muffins along with tea and coffee. This time offers an easy and informal opportunity to connect with one another and appreciate being in community together.

📿 Open Dharma Discussion
Those who wish are welcome to remain for an open and friendly Dharma conversation. This informal discussion space allows for reflection, listening, and shared insight. No prior experience is required, and participants are encouraged to join just as they are.
The intention of this gathering is to cultivate connection, warmth, and accessibility within our sangha, offering a gentle entry point into practice and community connection at Gaden Samten Ling.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mayor Andrew Knack for taking time out of his busy schedule to visit Gaden Samten Ling and learn more about our Society and the work we are doing in the community.

Mayor Knack’s visit took place during Sagadawa Düchen, one of the most sacred days in the Buddhist calendar, commemorating the birth, enlightenment, and parinirvana of Buddha Shakyamuni. This special day encourages practitioners to deepen their practice of generosity, compassion, and service to others.

We are deeply appreciative of Mayor Knack’s genuine interest, encouragement, and the kind words of support he shared regarding the dedication of our volunteers and the impact of our community initiatives.

Thank you, Mayor Knack, for spending time Kushok and with us! We are grateful for your support and for the opportunity to connect and to work together in building a more compassionate and caring community for all.🙏🏻♥️

May all beings benefit! ♥️🙏🏻

Our hearts are filled with gratitude for the incredible community who came together in compassionate action to successfully reach our goal of preparing and distributing 600 meals for members of Edmonton’s houseless and vulnerable community.

This offering took place on Sagadawa Düchen, one of the most sacred days in the Buddhist calendar, commemorating the birth, enlightenment, and parinirvana of Buddha Shakyamuni. Inspired by the guidance and example of our Spiritual Director, Kushok Lobsang Dhamchöe, volunteers offered their time, energy, and kindness in service to others. It is traditionally taught that positive actions performed on this day are multiplied by 100 million times, reminding us of the profound power of generosity, compassion, and caring for others.

As meals were shared throughout the day, we were deeply touched by the gratitude, warmth, and genuine human connection we were met with. These moments served as a beautiful reminder of our shared humanity and our interconnectedness.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to volunteer, donate generously and support this meaningful offering. May the merit generated through these positive actions be of benefit to all beings.🙏🏻♥️

On the sacred day of Sagadawa Düchen (May 31st 2026) we have the opportunity to turn compassion into direct action.

Kushok has shared that due to the blessings of Buddha Shakyamuni’s practice, the karmic results of our actions on this day are multiplied 10,000,000 times. It is a rare and precious opportunity to engage in virtue, deepen our practice, and extend care to others.

This year, our community is coming together with the goal of preparing and offering 600 burgers to members of the community experiencing homelessness and other vulnerable struggles.

Kushok and Geshe La will be joining us in cooking, and we invite any members and friends who feel called to support this offering to join us in the spirit of generosity and service.

We are currently seeking:
• Volunteers to help prepare, cook, serve, and clean up
• Donations to help us reach our goal
• Community support in spreading the word

In Buddhism, even the smallest act of kindness carries immense benefit. A meal, a smile, a helping hand — these moments matter deeply.

If you are available, we welcome you to join us at the temple anytime between 8:00 AM and 1:00 PM on Sunday, May 31st.

Please visit our website for information on Mahayana Sojong Vows and Guru Puja events also happening on this day.

🍔 Goal: 600 burgers cooked and distributed
🤲 Volunteers & donations deeply appreciated

If you feel called to help, please sign up through the volunteer link on our website: www.gsl-ab.ca

You may also donate to our “feeding the community fund” found on our website along with more information about this event.

If you have any questions please contact our office at

May this offering benefit all beings. 🙏

As we integrate the quiet beauty of our time at Clearwater Retreat 2026, we are filled with deep gratitude and appreciation for such a meaningful weekend together.

To be guided by our precious teacher, Kushok Lobsang Dhamchöe, is a profound gift felt by us all. His presence carries a steady compassion that meets each of us where we are.

Through Kushok’s teachings, and through the practices of sitting/walking meditation, returning to awareness, and even the simple moments of shared laughter and joy, something soft and heart opening is awakened within us.

Kushok’s words land quietly, yet deeply, in both our minds and hearts. We are eternally grateful to have the opportunity to be here with him.

We are so grateful for our beautiful Sangha, both new and familiar faces who came from near and far to gather in practice. The care, sincerity, and quiet support offered by each person created a truly special and meaningful retreat.

These photos are a reflection of that same energy within our community. A collective offering, captured through many perspectives, holding the moments we shared together. Thank you to all who contributed these beautiful photographs.

With heartfelt thanks and immense gratitude to Sanctum Retreat Centre for their warm hospitality, nourishing meals, peaceful accommodations, and the sacredness of the land that held us so well.

A sincere thank you as well to the organizers whose care and dedication made this gathering possible. Your hard work and devotion to the society is deeply appreciated and does not go unnoticed.

We leave feeling inspired, more connected, more present, and more grounded in what truly matters. We dedicate the positivity, the profound teachings, and the loving energy cultivated over the weekend to extend outward for the benefit of all beings. 🙏🏻♥️

We look forward to gathering again next year.
