Castledowns Baptist Church

Castledowns Baptist Church Please join us Sunday mornings at 10:00am for our church service. So you are probably wondering, what’s this church all about.

First of all, we value a real and loving relationship with Jesus. Church isn’t supposed to be a place where we “do religion”, but a place to get to know and love our God, to be surrounded by the love of Jesus, and to be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. We believe that this is best done in a community of people with the same goals in mind. Castledowns is a great blend of cultures, ages and

spiritual maturity, but our one common bond is a desire to know Jesus more and more, and become like Him. It is with this in mind that we strive for our purpose as a church, to build relationships with people for real life change, leading into a passionate relationship with Jesus. If you are just curious about this Jesus guy, or maybe you have been absent from church for a while, or even just looking for a new church family to call home. Castledowns is a growing place where we long to grow together into passionate followers of Jesus. We are not perfect, and if you are, you better look elsewhere, because you won’t fit here. We are just a diverse, loving community trying to figure out how Jesus fits into our everyday lives, so we can honor Him with everything we have and all that we do. So come check it out, you don’t have to dress up, you don’t have to pretend to be someone you’re not, God already knows you anyway, so come and get to know Him in our community called Castledowns Baptist.

There was no question of naughty or nice.
God didn’t have to check a list twice.

He knew this world was broken. He knew hearts were hurting.
And still, despite it, or because of it,
He gave us the greatest gift the world has ever known.

Wrapped in swaddling clothes, laid in a manger.
Destined not for under a tree…
but placed on one.

This is Christmas.

Grace didn’t come because we were good.
Grace came because we needed a Savior.

Scripture: 2 Samuel 7:12–16 — “When your days are over and you rest with your ancestors, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you… and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.”

God’s promises don’t just span time, they span generations.

When He spoke to David, promising an eternal kingdom through his offspring, God was pointing forward to the One who would reign forever: Jesus Christ.

The road to Bethlehem winds through kings and prophets, all part of God’s faithful plan to bring salvation into the world.

God’s faithfulness isn’t limited to a single generation. What He promises, He fulfills, even if it takes centuries. Advent reminds us that His kingdom is coming and His Word never fails.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for the faithfulness that flows through generations. Help me trust that Your promises are sure, even when I cannot yet see the fulfillment.

Question: How does remembering God’s long-term faithfulness give you hope this Advent?

The road to Bethlehem is not just a story of beginnings, it’s a story of continuity.

This week, we follow The Line of Promise: God’s covenant with David and the prophets, passed faithfully through generations, pointing forward to the Savior who would come.

God’s plan is patient and precise. Each promise, each king, each prophet, played a part in preparing the way for Christ.

Even when centuries pass and the world changes, God’s covenant remains. Advent invites us to see His faithfulness across time.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for weaving Your promises through generations. Help me trust that Your Word stands firm, no matter how long the wait.

This Saturday, take a moment to pause.

Advent isn’t just a countdown to Christmas, it’s a journey of reflection, waiting, and remembering God’s faithfulness.

This week, we’ve walked the beginning of the road to Bethlehem, seeing that God’s promises are ancient, sure, and faithful across generations.

What part of God’s faithfulness stood out to you this week? Where do you need to trust His promises more deeply?

Prayer: Lord, help me pause and notice Your faithfulness. May my heart be still and confident in the promises You have spoken for me, for my family, and for the world.

Scripture: Psalm 105:8–10 — “He remembers his covenant forever, the promise he made, for a thousand generations.”

God’s promises are not fleeting or forgotten, they are eternal.
From the first promise in Eden, through Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, God has been faithful across generations. Every promise points forward to the day when He would send His Son to dwell among us.

Advent reminds us that the road to Bethlehem is paved with centuries of faithfulness. The same God who kept His Word then is keeping it now in our lives, in our families, and in our world.

When we feel impatient or doubtful, we can look back at God’s history of faithfulness and trust that His promises are still true.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for being unchanging and faithful. Help me rest in Your promises and walk confidently on the road You have set before me.

Question: How can remembering God’s faithfulness in the past strengthen your hope this Advent?

Scripture: Genesis 22:15–18 — “Through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed me.”

On the mountain where Abraham’s faith was tested, God revealed His heart, not a demand for sacrifice, but a promise of provision.

When Abraham raised the knife, God provided a ram. When humanity was lost, God would one day provide His Son.

The promise to Abraham wasn’t just about one child, it pointed forward to Christ, the true Lamb of God, who would bless every nation through His sacrifice.

God’s faithfulness often becomes clearest on the mountain of surrender. Advent calls us to remember that the same God who provided for Abraham provided for us through Jesus.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for providing what I could never earn, grace through Your Son. Help me trust Your provision and obey with a willing heart.

Question: What would it look like for you to trust God’s provision more fully in this season of waiting?

Scripture: Genesis 21:1–7 — “Now the Lord was gracious to Sarah as He had said, and the Lord did for Sarah what He had promised.”
God’s promises don’t depend on human possibility; they rest on His power.

When Sarah laughed at the thought of bearing a child in her old age, God turned that laughter of disbelief into laughter of joy. What seemed impossible became the evidence of His faithfulness.

From Isaac to Jesus, God’s story is one of miracles born out of impossibility. The road to Bethlehem is paved with moments where God does what only He can do.

When God speaks, even the most unlikely situations become the stage for His glory. Advent reminds us that His Word never fails. Not then, not now.

Prayer: Lord, thank You that nothing is too hard for You. Strengthen my faith to believe that You can still bring life to places that feel barren and hopeless.

Question: What “impossible” situation do you need to entrust to God’s promise this Advent?

Scripture: Genesis 12:1–3 — “I will bless you… and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”

When God called Abraham to leave everything familiar, He gave a promise that reached far beyond one man or one nation, a promise that would bless the whole world.
Through Abraham’s faith, God began to unfold His plan for redemption, a plan that would one day lead to Bethlehem, where the true blessing would arrive in Jesus Christ.

God’s promises often begin with a step of faith. Like Abraham, we may not see the full picture, but we can trust the One who does. The road to Bethlehem is built on promises kept and faith obeyed.

Prayer: Lord, give me the courage to follow where You lead, trusting that every step of faith draws me closer to Your promises fulfilled in Christ.

Question: What step of faith might God be asking you to take as you journey with Him this Advent?

Scripture: Genesis 3:15 — “He will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”

In the very moment humanity fell, God spoke hope.

Before there was Bethlehem, before there was a manger, there was a promise, that one day, evil would be crushed, and redemption would come.

Advent begins here: with a God who steps into our brokenness and declares, “I will make it right.”
Even when everything seems lost, God’s plan for restoration is already in motion. The road to Bethlehem begins in the garden, where grace first met sin.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for being faithful from the very beginning. Help me trust that Your promises still hold true in my life today.

Question: Where in your life do you need to believe that God’s redemption story is still being written?

Every journey begins with a promise.

As we step onto The Road to Bethlehem, we start where hope was first spoken, in the beginning, when God promised redemption through His Word.

This week, we’ll remember that God’s plan didn’t start in Bethlehem, but in eternity. His promises were set in motion long before we could see them, and they are still unfolding today.

Advent reminds us: the same God who kept His word then will keep it now.
