Anglican Diocese Edmonton

Anglican Diocese Edmonton A welcoming and inclusive Christian community growing in faith through worship and loving service. We value honest, transparent and respectful communication.

The Anglican Diocese of Edmonton seeks to further God’s Kingdom as welcoming communities where Jesus’ ministry of healing, reconciliation and new life is lived out in worship, loving service and partnerships locally and around the world. We are a family of 48 urban and rural parishes in central Alberta, spanning an area of more than 126,000 square kilometres extending to the borders of our neighbo

uring provinces of British Columbia in the west and Saskatchewan in the east. We believe that the Gospel is best proclaimed through the loving relationships we build with the people around us and the service we offer to our local and global communities. The Gospel isn’t just a word, it’s the Word made flesh, first in Jesus and then, by the grace of God, in those who have come to follow Him. We seek to provide encouragement and inspiration to all who are building loving, inclusive, Christ-centered communities. We respect the dignity of every human being and endeavour to lift the voices of people who are marginalised. As followers of Jesus, we learn from His life of teaching, sacrifice, and love through the witness of scripture, our Anglican tradition, and the work of the Holy Spirit. Jesus proclaimed that the Kingdom of God has come near and in His presence, where people were and are healed and fed, and given new life, God’s Kingdom truly was and is manifest.

We will also offer this workshop on Wednesday, September 30, at 10am, and invite people of all ages to join us as we recognize the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation.

The Feast of the Creator (September 1) is a new observance in the Anglican Church of Canada. It may be transferred to any Sunday in the Season of Creation.
The Season of Creation is an annual season of prayer, education, and action to protect the gift of God’s creation.
Let's pray!
Creator,
you have wonderfully fashioned
the heavens and the earth
and us in your own image.
Teach us to discern your hand
in all your works
and your breath in all creatures,
that we may be of service
in the healing of the earth,
through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit,
through whom you breathe
all creation into being.
Amen.

At the end of August, we had the pleasure of welcoming Bishop Anderson Jeremiah and his family to the Diocese of Edmonton. Bishop Anderson is the Anglican Communion’s other Bishop of Edmonton, where he serves as area bishop of one of the regions of the Diocese of London, UK. His area of focus includes theology and the environment, justice, reconciliation, and anti-racism.

Bishop Anderson, who began his ministry in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, took time to visit with the Church of South India congregation that meets at St. Augustine’s, Edmonton. He and his family also spent a day with Indigenous elders, learning some of the teachings of this land.

We look forward to continued friendship between the two Edmontons.
