Yesterday we celebrated International Women's Day, and reflected on all the strong, resilient, intelligent, kind, and inspirational women who have helped shape Heimtal and the Moravian Church.
Strong women: may we be them, may we know them, may we raise them!!

"And the angel said unto them:
Fear not! For, behold,
I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
For unto you is born this day in the city of David, a Saviour,
which is Christ the Lord.
Glory to God in the highest,
and on Earth, peace and good will toward men."
- Luke 2:8-14

Wishing peace, joy, hope, and love to you and yours, and a very Merry Christmas, from all of us at Heimtal Moravian! ❤️💚

This year, we cannot just "leave Christ in the manger", otherwise, we are just adulting in nostalgia: using Christmas to numb us to the pain of the world. It's time to take the love of Christmas and the love of Christ out into the world with us.
December 25th is just where Christmas starts.
Tomorrow, the work begins, to find the lost, to heal the broken, and to make music in the heart.

May we enter this Christmas, with faith, hope and love. 💚❤️

-paraphrased from Pastor James Lavoy's Christmas Eve message

As Pride month comes to a close, we would like to remind everyone that inclusion, equality, and love aren't bounded to the days of June, but all year round! We are grateful for, and cherish, all of our siblings in Christ, no matter their orientation, s*x, gender identity, race, class, or any other identifier. We are all one. 🌈

In the hymn “All Are Welcome” by Marty Haugen, we hear the poignant longing for a church where the gospel promises will be lived so that all God’s children will be loved and safe and free.

With the selection of a new pope, we’re once again hearing from some Catholics who say their church is “welcoming” to LGBTQ+ people.

But let’s be clear: being welcoming is not the same as being affirming.

When LGBTQ+ people are told they’re welcome as long as they stay quiet about who they are… as long as they don’t fall in love… as long as they accept second-class treatment... that’s not inclusion. That’s tolerance with conditions. And in 2025, we know better.

LGBTQ+ people deserve full inclusion. In every pew, every pulpit, every community, and every corner of life with no exceptions or restrictions based on who they are or who they love.

Being “welcoming” isn’t enough. Affirming. Celebrating. Lifting up with equal dignity. That’s what love looks like.
