Glory to Jesus Christ!

Today we had the joy and blessing of celebrating the Parish Feast Day of Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Parish in Onoway. On this feast of the Holy, Glorious, and All-Praised Chief Apostles Peter and Paul, we give thanks to God for the faithful witness of these great pillars of the Church and pray that He continues to strengthen all who bear their namesake.

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone from Sts. Peter and Paul Parish who worked so diligently to prepare for today’s Divine Liturgy and fellowship. Thank you to all who offered their time, talents, and hospitality, and to everyone who came to pray and celebrate together. Your love for the Church and your spirit of service made this feast a joyful and beautiful occasion.

May the Lord, through the prayers of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, bless you and your families abundantly, grant you good health, peace, and many blessed years as you continue to build up His holy Church.

CANADA DAY MESSAGE

FROM THE EPISCOPATE OF THE UKRAINIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH OF CANADA

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

On Canada Day, we turn our hearts to God with gratitude for the blessings He so generously bestows upon our country and its people.

For many generations of the faithful of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Canada has been not only a place of residence but a true home. It was here that our grandparents and great-grandparents built new lives and worked for the good of their communities and of this country. Their descendants have made, and continue to make, significant contributions to the development of Canada at every level – as farmers and labourers, builders and entrepreneurs, teachers and scholars, physicians and healthcare professionals, members of the Canadian Armed Forces, community leaders, judges, parliamentarians, senators, and spiritual leaders of the Church. Each, in his or her own way, has helped and continues to help build a strong, free, and prosperous Canada.

Previous generations left a lasting mark on the development of this great country while preserving their faith, traditions, and spiritual heritage. Among them was the great Metropolitan Ilarion (Ohienko), whose 75th anniversary of enthronement we commemorate this year. Their descendants continue to preserve and strengthen this legacy as an integral part of Canada’s multicultural mosaic, serving society at every level and in every sphere of Canadian life.

Today, we proudly acknowledge that we are an integral part of Canadian society. As Orthodox Christians, we are grateful for the freedom to worship openly, to build churches, to nurture our youth in the faith, and to pass on our spiritual and cultural traditions to future generations. These blessings also place upon us a responsibility – to be good citizens, to support one another, and to serve society with love and respect.

On this festive day, let us pray for Canada and for the peace and prosperity of our country. Let us ask the Lord to bless all those who labour for the common good and to grant strength and wisdom to the leaders of our Canada.

May the Lord bless Canada, our Church, our families, and all communities that, through their work, faith, and love, contribute to the common good of our country.

Fervently you followed the renowned martyrs, steadfastly confessing Christ before unbelievers, O wise Boniface. You returned your relics to the noble Aglaia as an imperishable treasure; from them flow healing and mercy for the world.

You abandoned the Egypt of the passions, O Father, ascending the mount of the virtues with fervent faith, taking the Cross of Christ upon your shoulders; and being glorified in godly works, you proved to be a model for monastics, O Moses, summit of the Fathers. Troparion, Tone 2:
Offspring of the land of Tula, angelic ascetic of the city of Moscow, blessed Eldress Matrona. You remained blind from birth until the end of your life, but you received spiritual sight, clairvoyance, and intercession from God. Most of all, you received the gift of healing the spiritual and bodily illnesses of all who come to you and ask you with faith, O our joy.

Troparion, Tone 1:
O you faithful, let us honor Paisios, the offspring of Phárasa, the glory of Athos, emulator of the Holy Ascetics of old, and equal to them in honor; O grace-filled vessel, who hastens speedily to the pious faithful who cry out: “Glory to Him Who strengthened you. Glory to Him Who crowned you. Glory to Him Who, through you, works healings for all.”

Having lived as a stranger in the world, you outwitted the deviser of evil by your pretended foolishness, O Xenia. You received the grace from God to foresee and foretell things to come. Now, as you have been translated from earth to heaven, you are numbered with the choirs of the angels.

Troparion, Tone 1:
O ye faithful, let us honor Porphyrios, the offspring of Euboia, the Elder of all Greece, an initiate of theology, and a true lover of Christ; from childhood he was filled with divine gifts; those possessed by demons are delivered, the sick are healed, and they cry with faith: “Glory to Him Who strengthened you. Glory to Him Who sanctified you. Glory to Him Who, through you, works healings for all.”
