Our Histo

ry:

Ellerslie Church was established in 1947, being incorporated successively as Bethel Baptist Church, Parkallen Baptist Church, Lansdowne Baptist Church and now Ellerslie Road Baptist Church. We are affiliated with the Baptist General Conference of Canada. From it's small beginnings the church has grown over the years. Major expansion took place during the 1970s, when we moved to Lansdowne. Early in the 1980s a property on Ellerslie Road was purchased with a view to further expansion. The present facility of 55,000 square feet was built in 1993. The sanctuary seats 1000, with excellent acoustics, a large platform area, natural lighting and good sight lines. There is a nursery wing, office area, classrooms on both levels, a gymnasium and kitchen facilities.

When you are genuinely overwhelmed and running on empty, everything in you wants to hide away. It takes every ounce of energy just to put your shoes on, so you isolate yourself and call it self-care. But staying alone in that heavy, quiet space only leaves you feeling emptier than before.

The pivot happens when you push through the door anyway. You quickly realize that your rawest struggles are exactly what qualify you to anchor someone else. That is how genuine hope works, because it turns your hardest moments into the practical light a hurting world is looking for.

When the daily grind gets completely crushing and your own mistakes start piling up, the pressure feels impossible to escape. You desperately try to force the pieces together on your own power, running on empty just to keep up appearances.

The ultimate relief happens when you realize a majestic love has already stepped into your chaos to break the power of that darkness. This amazing grace takes your heaviest burdens and carries the weight so you don't have to. Leaning into that truth frees you to breathe and shake off the shame.

Dearest readers,

The season has finally turned, and what a truly splendid awakening it was.

Our hearts are still overflowing after a lovely morning filled with community, encouragement, and the sweetest fellowship. We gathered to enjoy delicious treats, warm conversation, and a deeply moving, inspiring adoption story shared by Jo.

It was a morning of pure delight, where godly friendships blossomed and the room was filled with the most wonderful, friendly atmosphere. To see so many radiant faces sharing laughter and uplifting one another was a beautiful reminder of the strength and grace found in our community.

Thank you to every wonderful lady who attended and made this spring tea an unforgettable celebration of love and togetherness.

It is easy to feel overwhelmed when sorrows roll over you like sea billows. But true peace comes when you realize your sins are completely nailed to the cross.

When you shift your focus to Jesus, a deep wellness takes over your soul. Let His bright light lift your heavy burdens and give you strength to face tomorrow.

It is easy to feel like you are just drifting through a busy, chaotic life, but there is an incredible purpose behind your story. We are naturally hardwired to look for God. Every specific moment in history and the exact places we live are set up by Him with a deliberate focus: so we can reach out and find Jesus.

When you look back at your life right now with that perspective, everything changes. Can you see the specific moments where God was working to show you the truth? Think about those exact crossroads where Jesus gave you a clear opportunity to see the bigger picture and respond.

God is moving out here!

Church is so much more than a building; it’s the incredible team that welcomes you, the conversations that happen in between, and the way this family shows up for one another.

It’s genuinely inspiring to see. If you joined us this Sunday, whether it was your first time or your hundredth, we hope you felt just how valued you are.

What a powerful day in the house.

There was truly nothing like being together this Sunday, from the sweet moments connecting in the lobby to the warm hugs from our incredible volunteers.

Honestly, looking around the room at this community caring for each other easily brings tears to your eyes. Feeling the welcome, seeing new faces, and remembering how deeply loved we are is just everything.

It is easy to get caught up in job titles and daily stress. But everything changes when you look at the bigger picture and find real joy in Jesus.
When you shift your focus to what matters forever, pure peace takes over. Generations before us found their strength right here. Let His bright light clear your path today.
