“Do this in remembrance of Me.”

Communion is more than a tradition — it’s a sacred moment to pause, remember, and reflect on the sacrifice of Jesus. His body was broken. His blood was poured out. And through Him, we have grace, forgiveness, and new life. ✝️

As we come to the table, may we do so with gratitude, reverence, and hearts centered on Christ.

Come ready to remember.

BLESS THE BACKPACKS SUNDAY!

We’re taking a special moment during our Sunday service to pray over our students, educators, and school staff as they step into a new school year! 🙏🏽

We invite every student, teacher, EA, administrator, daycare worker, and post-secondary student to join us as we pray for God’s protection, wisdom, strength, and favour over the year ahead.

Let’s bless our children and everyone who plays a part in shaping their lives.

Bible study shouldn’t stop at simply reading the words on the page.

In Part 2 of “What Is Bible Study?”, we’re looking at five questions that can help us slow down, understand Scripture in context, and move toward faithful application.

As you read, ask:

1. What did the text mean to the original audience?
2. What are the differences between the Biblical audience and us?
3. What is the theological principle?
4. How does that principle fit with the rest of the Bible?
5. How should Christians today live it out?

The goal is not just to say, “I read it.”

The goal is to move toward:

“I understand it.”
“I see the principle.”
“I can apply it.”
“I’m living it.”

What Is Bible Study?
Bible study isn’t just about reading more Scripture. It’s about learning how to understand what we’re reading — and allowing the Word to shape how we live.

The Tension
Ever opened your Bible wanting to go deeper… and had no idea where to begin? You’re not alone. Understanding Scripture takes more than good intentions — it takes the right approach.

More Than Reading
Reading gives us the words. Study helps us understand them. And when understanding reaches the heart, Scripture begins to transform the way we live.

But How Do We Study?
The desire to study Scripture is important — but desire alone doesn’t always tell us how. The questions we ask and the tools we use matter.

What Is Hermeneutics?
Before asking, “What does this mean for me?” we have to ask, “What was this actually saying?” Context helps us honour the meaning of the text instead of simply placing our own meaning onto it.

Why It Matters
Good Bible study doesn’t make Scripture say what we want it to say. It helps us listen more carefully to what God’s Word is actually communicating.

Study Should Lead to Life
The measure of Bible study isn’t simply how much we know. The Word is meant to move from information → understanding → obedience → transformation.

Don’t just read the Word.
Comprehend it. Apply it. Internalize it. Live it.

FLC family, tomorrow we’re taking intentional time to rest, reset, and embrace Sabbath. There will be no in-person service tomorrow.

Rest is not an interruption to the work—it’s part of the rhythm God gives us. Take this Sunday to slow down, spend time with God and family, and allow your soul to be refreshed. 🤍

We’ll congregate together again as a family next Sunday, August 16th, ready to worship, fellowship, and continue growing together. 🙌🏾✨
