Some of this resonates with my experiences as both pastor and parent; some not. I'd love to hear your thoughts, especially as we are hopefully able to do more in person in the coming months! What would help you?

Lauren Graeber makes the case that parents of young children are still languishing in 2022 and it’s part of the reason they’re not coming back to church. As positivity rates once again drop and parents don’t rush back, she suspects that the deeper motivation for staying home every Sunday is so...

After a few relatively quiet weeks at Messy Church, tonight we had a raucous Zoom session with the story of the loaves and fishes, a cat and a puppy appearing onscreen, and a round of "Happy Birthday" for baby Pippa turning ONE! (Happy second birthday also to Oliver, who sadly is under the weather this week!)

PARK CHURCH!!
Who: Open to all, and geared mainly towards families with younger (0-6) kids. Invite your friends!
What: Worship, Bible stories, a brief message and/or activity, a song, a prayer, and optional picnic and playtime to follow!
Where: Cedar Park Heights, enclosed kiddy park (near the entrance on Oakridge below Douglas Shand). Note that there is construction on Robinsdale/Hartford so the parking lot is not accessible, but there is plenty of street parking.
When: Sunday June 20th, 4:00-4:30

Bring: yourselves and a blanket for sitting. Optional: story Bible, musical instruments like shakers/sticks, picnic supper!

If, like mine, your kids prefer knowing what to expect, we will hear about Jesus' parables from Luke 15 (Lost Sheep, Lost Coin, and Prodigal Son) and sing this song: https://youtu.be/V8jxCxo5JxY

I am looking forward to seeing - and for some, meeting! - you all, and excited about the idea of Church in the Park!

Hugs and blessings,
Rebecca Dowd Lekx
(Mum to Jonathan-5, Thomas-3, and Pippa-4m)

ps. In case of rain, we will cancel. Pray for no rain :D

We miss the joyful chaos of last year's Christmas pageant ... but there's still time to sign up for the 2020 VIRTUAL PAGEANT! Let us know by Monday, November 23rd!

If you participate, you will be given instructions for making 1-3 very short video clips using whichever members of your household would like to participate, and whatever costumes and props you have at hand. We'll then edit all the videos together and post the whole thing for the parish to enjoy! If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment!

I haven't posted in a while because using the group chat seems to be working for Messy Church reminders. But I feel like it warrants an official announcement that we WILL be doing a Christmas Pageant this year - virtually! If you volunteer to participate, you will receive a portion of the script with directions for creating a video, which will then be incorporated into the overall "production". No particular costumes or props required! Creativity will be encouraged - this is meant to be fun, not stressful! I can't wait to see what we come up with!
