Today we celebrated the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi with a Blessing of the Animals. 🐾

Our Lay Readers, Matt and Mary, blessed the beloved pets God has entrusted to our care, and a few of our furry friends even returned the blessing with a kiss!

Thank you to everyone who brought their companions along to share in this joyful tradition. 🐶🐱💛

🧡 Honouring the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Tomorrow, September 30, our St. George's family will set aside our usual routines to pause, remember and reflect with communities across the country. Mid-day Prayer will not be held, and Rev. Lisa will be away from the office, so that each of us can take part in this important day.

This is a day to honour the children who never came home from residential schools, and the Survivors, families and communities who still carry that legacy. It is also a day to listen, to learn, and to think about our own part in the work of reconciliation.

We invite all of you to join a National Day for Truth and Reconciliation event in your own community. Standing together with our Indigenous neighbours and listening to their stories is one of the most meaningful ways to mark this day.

St. George's Anglican Church is opening our doors for a weekly Community Coffee Hour every week at 10:00 AM.

This is a simple, no-agenda gathering: free coffee, good company, and a chance to get to know your neighbours. No need to sign up, no cost, and no religious affiliation required. Whatever your faith background (or none at all), you're welcome to join us.

It's drop-in style, so come and go as you please. Stay for five minutes or the whole hour!

Today marks 25 years since the tragic events of September 11, 2001. As we remember the lives lost and the families forever changed, we also hold in memory a profound witness of grace.

When U.S. airspace closed, communities across Canada—from Gander and Halifax to Vancouver and Yellowknife—opened their schools, their homes and their churches to tens of thousands of stranded travellers. In a moment of deep darkness, they lived out Christ's call to love our neighbours and welcome the stranger.

Today, we pray for continued healing, lasting peace and that we may all carry forward that same spirit of hospitality and compassion in our world.

Heart Circle is starting up again!

Join us Wednesday, September 9th, 7:00–9:00 PM at St. George's Anglican Church in Devon.

The Heart Circle is a confidential, nurturing space for anyone navigating grief or other burdens: loss, divorce, estrangement, addiction, or financial, job, or health struggles. It's a "brave space" where everyone stands on equal ground: not a place for fixing, but a place to be heard.

This is not a church service; all walks of life and spiritual backgrounds are welcome.

We meet every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month, 7:00–9:00 PM, at St. George's Anglican Church, 1 St. Clair St., Devon, AB.

Almighty God, you have broken the tyranny of sin and sent into our hearts the Spirit of your Son. Give us grace to dedicate our freedom to your service, that all people may know the glorious liberty of the children of God; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.

Loud kids? Say less. 👶🙌

At St. George's, we don't do "shh"; we do "sing louder, buddy!" Squeals, giggles, the occasional mid-sermon "I'M HUNGRY"- that's not a distraction; that's the sound of a church that's alive and growing.

So if you've been holding off on visiting because your littles are... enthusiastic... this is your sign. Bring 'em. All of them. Loud, wiggly, snack-crumbed and all.

Because a noisy pew beats an empty one, every single time. 💙

Join us today at 1:00 PM for our Midday Prayer Service.

A quiet, spoken service drawn from the Book of Common Prayer, following the order of Morning Prayer. No music, no rush. Just thirty still minutes set aside in the middle of the week to pray, listen, and rest in the words that have shaped Anglican worship for generations.

We hold this service every Wednesday. Whether prayer is a daily habit, something you have been meaning to return to, or something you have never tried before, you are welcome here.
